MelWay

We are inviting interested persons to join our group, The Melanesian Way Inc (TMW), set up to revive, preserve, protect and promote the traditional Melanesian cultures and indigenous practices.

We believe our own way of life would have successfully curbed the HIV/AIDS epidemic — traditional herbal medicine for HIV/AIDS and promoting the old way of life in an attempt to erase HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination.

You can write to us at: The National Coordinator, The Melanesian Way Inc, PO Box 841, Boroko, NCD, or email to: [email protected] or SMS: 6966247.

You are joking right?????????

I mean what melanesian way are you promoting here, there are 800 different melanesian ways here, each at complete opposite ends of each other, and each incompatible with each and every other way.

Or are you trying to promote the failed judge Narakobi's misconceived "melanesian way" of sleeping under the coconut trees chewing betel nut whiling away a country, provinces and the possible progress of PNG as a successful country in todays world.

My advise "get real" you lazy bums

Melanesian way is the way of the majority of our people, the way of the village. A way in which family is placed very high value. Where people help each other and look after each other. A place where people are more likely to speak in a way to keep the peace and promote harmony within the village instead of speaking in a way that causes problems.

Melanesian Way is where elders are given high priority. Where most needs are met from the land and the seas and where people value ancestors and traditions highly.

That is the Melanesian Way. Of course those in the towns or overseas have forgotten those important melanesian values so they probably have no clue whatsoever what Melanesian Way is all about!!!!

:-)

At least they're taking action. That alone puts them in a special category.

I agree wholeheartedly with Truplaman, There is no "true" melanesian way, there are almost up to 800 different melanesian ways in PNG. Every culture here is different. The highlanders way of settling dispute by tribal fight is there melanesian way, The BRA's rebellion on Bougainville is their melanesian way

YOu have to be very careful about what you are writing about and not bullshhiit them with false ideas and your politicians have already done.

There is a Center for Melanesia at the University of Goroka headed by Dr. Jerry Semos who is currently the Acting VC; http://www.uog.ac.pg/

Also, there is Melanesian Institute in Goroka, http://www.mi.org.pg/home.htm located at West Goroka and is run by the Catholic Church.

All the best.
