Dozens of PNGians reading pngscape, too cowardly to comment themselves!!!

LOOK AT THEM SILENTLY READING!

i have noticed for awhile now that nearly everyone who comes onto pngscape is too afraid (cowardly) to post any comments yet i reckon this is the educated elite and youth who will be our future leaders who say nothing and just read, read, read.

why is nearly everyone coming to pngscape too frightened to actually post anything themselves?

watch how many people are on each board yet how very rarely anyone actually makes a posting.

Perhaps because what is happening in POM leaves people stunned, they don't know how or what to write here.

Not really. It's true every day of the year. About 90% of pngscape visitors are too shy, too frightened, or too damn stupid to write a comment. Yet, those of us who have internet are considered the cream of the crop of our nation.

People are hesitant to leave any comment because too often discussions here lead to non constructive and offensive remarks. The more the discussion goes on it most often than not, vears towards ethnic slurs. Maybe intelligent people are keeping away from narrow minded people or "trolls" like you. Because, even when people are not saying anything, you start a thread and start criticising them! Since when was silence a cowardly act?

What you say is very true but this is true all over the world. People elsewhere in the world are very tough about these things and learn how to have a thick skin.

Maybe it's high time we learn to do the same!

The world isn't going to change for us and its a tough, cruel world out there.

Many people on scape read, read, read but do not respond. There are some us who use bad language instead of debating and puting up your thoughts thats why I don't write but read on pngscape. Unbelieveable of some us claim as intellectuals but the way bad language is use is not constructive so can't write

Why a lot of educated and decent PNGans don't like to comment here is because some anonomous idiot like the person who started this thread come and throw in some stupid one-liners into a good and meaningful discussion. If you really want to communicate with fellow educated and decent PNGans, go into the Sharp Talk group on Facebook using your full id and make comments and read other's comments and feedbacks there.

Readings and writings have no problem in the English world. If you don’t know how to speak and write, listen carefully, think and respond with short formatted English. Otherwise, just listen and smile but never go cranky for misunderstanding. Engalish em ino mama tok bilong yu. Tingting gut na skelim.

Otherwise, it’s good to see that many people are reading our discussion. You don’t have to write if you don’t have to. Writing doesn’t mean you know everything, it’s just one of reading, listening, writing and speaking.

Don’t get too excited with your writting.

Cheers, Sartu KLT

On the other hand, the vast majority of scapers who only read postings and never post get into the bad habit of never participating in anything. They end up being exactly the kind of people who might be very good, but whom allow evil people to prevail in our society because they don't do anything. They neither make the effort to post nor do they make the effort to stand up against corruption, even when they see it before their very eyes.

THAT's the problem.

When someone tries to comment and add onto constructive crticism we have the "usual hooligan" who tries to stir up **** amongst everyone..Why should i even bother to comment if we have narrow minded individuals making remarks to every 2 bit word someone tries to make?.

You're going to find hooligans everywhere in life. Don't be so easily discouraged. Or might I say, don't use this as a lame excuse for saying nothing.

I'm amazed how many of you won't even comment when a poster puts up something that is obviously unfair or vicious. Still you remain silent - you won't make an effort to become part of a group of people that shuts up that vicious person.

Why not?

I think the answer lies in what that spy exposed by Wikileaks said about PNG politicians but which in a way applies to most of us:

"are not pro-active, and certainly not policy active. They are instead led by people from outside."

Not being proactive would explain why so few of the many wantoks that come on this site ever start a new topic or thread, or even bother to comment on anything.

Certainly this site has a very low percentage of people getting involved compared to similar sites in other countries.

It’s very sad to see that some people are so uneasy about this worthless topic which was put to rest few months ago. I can’t see any logic in reactivating this post again as it deem nonsense and a kiddo type whinging.

Don't forget - there're people participating in this forum one way or the other. How do you measure or justify that it's only youself and the other?

In the Wikileaks article about PNG thats on the News Board, the 'informant' who gave their opinion on various going ons in PNG remarked that the problem with our leaders was that they were not proactive, they just sat and waited for others to do the work.

It would seem that this is a problem not limited to our leaders, but to ourselves as a people.

Here on pngscape, most people just sit back and wait for others to create all their reading material for them.

This issue is important because it explains a lot concerning why our country is in the mess it's in and why nothing ever seems to get done.

Maybe there are alternative explanations too. It seems, however, that this is a general trend that expresses itself in many ways, not only limited to our pollies.

Surfers I suppose are dumbfounded by the culture they were rasied in, most are attentive listeners and not talkers or participants in a conversation. For intellectuals its undeniably obvious some sit in lectures and listen for a one hour without responding to the professor or even asking a single critical question on atoms and neutrons etc. Although they understand the law of nature or physics when the topics are discussed no one bothers on utterances. The same can be implied here, however, as I see most threads usually are not worthy topics for a contribution anyway.

Well, if we weren't cowards and we found that most threads weren't worth commenting on, what we would do would be to start new threads that we hoped would be more thought provoking.

At least thats what people would do in other countries. Here in PNG we still remain silent. And BTW if the kids I know are any indication, they don't ask question in class and they don't understand the concepts the teachers try to teach them either. In other words, no pain no gain. No questions=poor understanding at the end of the day.

There is a difference between a discussion and activism. You come onto a forum that is about 'discussion' yet proclaim self righteously that there is a lack of activism taking place.
The way I look at it is you have 3 options;

1. Start your own political activism blog/site to avoid the dry monologues that you post
2. Learn to differentiate between political discussion and political activism
3. You have good intentions and expectations but need to place them where they will be appreciated and utilised better. Calling everyone a coward is NOT helpful to your cause.
