I just wanted to know what other fans think of the price of the auction for tomorrow's jerseys! I thought $200 was a bit steep (but I remember the silent auctions at the guest services booth was high too). I thought the jerseys might start out cheaper so kids could bid on them. Just wondered what others though.
I will stick around to see how the bidding goes, but I won't be bidding!

I won't be bidding either, I'd rather get season tickets next year. $200 is a bit high to start with, but then again, they would probably end up higher than that anyway, so I guess it just saves a little time.

Where did you hear or read about starting bids of $200.00? I don't doubt it, I just haven't heard of it before. I have been to several auctions before and can't recall a game worn jersey going for less that $150 anyway. We will just have to wait and see. What will they do if they don't get an opening bid of $200? If that happens at regular autions the price comes down until you get an opening bid and then back up it goes often in access of the original opening bid. I can see some jerseys going for more than $200 such as Platt, Risk, Brown, Flache and a few other fan favorites. I could see some others not making the opening bid if in fact they try to open at $200.00. There will be plenty of kids bidding if they have parents with the means to purchase. Should be fun anyway.

BP Fox, it was in the weekly e-mail from the Spirit about the up coming games.

I too thought $200 was a bit high, but it is for charity.

Thanks Sparky, that must be a season ticket holder thing. I still wonder if it is like any other auction, if there are no takers for the opening bid then they just keep coming down until some on starts the bidding. I still expect the popular players jerseys to go quite high.

For those of you who didn't stay for the auction, the biggest jersey that went was Platt for $1000.00. I believe that Brown's was the next highest bid going for $700.00. They all went for a minimum of over $300.00. Not bad for being "just kids." Way to go on the outstanding first season attendance!!!
