I have been informed that Mike Brown was selected to play for Team USA in the same tournament. When I find that article I'll post it.

Three Spirit Players To Compete on National Teams for International Tournament
Created: Apr 3, 2003

Three members of the 2002-03 Saginaw Spirit Hockey Club will represent their countries for an up-coming international hockey tournament.

Spirit forward Geoff Platt and defenseman Paul Bissonnette were named to the Team Canada Under-18 team, set to play in the International Ice Hockey Federation tournament in Yaroslavl, Russia, April 12th through April 23rd.

Spirit goaltender Mike Brown has been named to the Team USA Under-18 team for the same tournament.

Spirit General Manager Costa Papista says the selections are an honor for the Spirit teammates. "This selection highlights the skills these young men bring to the Saginaw Spirit during the Ontario Hockey League season. We wish them well in this international competition," Papista said.

Platt, Bissonnette and Brown are seniors at Nouvel Catholic Central High School in Saginaw. Platt was the Spirit's scoring leader in 2002-03, with 32 goals, 22 assists good for 54 points in the regular season.

Bissonnette was the team's top scoring defenseman, with 7 goals and 16 assists, good for 23 points. He was also the Team Orr MVP in the CHL Top Prospects tournament in January, in Kitchener. Additionally, Bissonnette was part of the Team Canada Under-18 team that won Gold during the Eight Nation Tournament in Slovakia in August of 2002.

Brown recorded the first ever Saginaw Spirit franchise victory October 2th, 2002 against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

I was watching HNIC on CBC, and they spoke to Paul Bissonette in the Ottowa/Toronto pre-game show. They are at the ACC tonight for the game. Thought you should know
