last night i watched plymouth vs kitchener in plymouth and wow was it good hockey, kitchener won 7-4 but the game was a dandy. id have to say kitchener is possibly the best coached team in the league, just how poised and aggresive they play, they made chad larose and chris thorburn and the other plymouth "stars" look like a pair of 4th line nobodies even on their pk kitchener would chase plymouth behind the net. my point is i really freakin hope saginaw is at the level in the next couple of years

I was there too. Got 5th row seats on the day of the game, says a lot about the fan support in Plymouth. Well, they did sell out the place but I guess it is a late-arriving crowd.

I've been to 4 playoff games there this year and many more games in past years. The last couple games I've been there, I'm come to really appreciate what we have here in Saginaw. First off, the SCEC is way, way better than their building. Their PA system is terrible, the sight lines can be real bad and how about the air that blows in your face nonstop. Spirit game day activities again are way better than theirs, since they really don't have any. There game day operations, merchandising (really weak attempt), ushers, etc all seem to be volunteers. Saginaw is much more polished and professional. Also I'm not totaly convinced they have a strong fan base. I recieved free tickets for one game simply by buy tickets for another. I really don't think the Spirit will be giving away free tickets during the playoffs. If you think about it, there are what 6 million(?) in metro Detroit and they have trouble getting 4K a game. I lived down there for years, and the team really does not get much coverage. But you can't argue with their success.

Now if we can only get our team on the ice to be consistently as good as theirs.

yeah the compuware sports arena isnt very good its nice but its set up really weird and the PA system is horrible everytime they announced something it sounded like the announcer had his hand over his mouth. just really make you appreciate what we have here and like toronto and the teams in that area its a tough to draw fans usually if people want hockey they to a wings game and i gurantee if the wings were still playing the building would have had barely 1500 to 2000

Their building is OK but it is horrible for sound. Which they make up for by having a lousy PA announcer.

Wendler is designed to be used for more than just hockey games, and there is more open air, which is why it sounds better in there, and we actually have rock concerts in there. Compuware is built specifically for hockey and I couldn't see for example a concert in that building anytime soon.
