| I read in today's Saginaw News that the Spirit sent home Greg Goodenough because he came into camp in less-than-top condition. I thought this was a pretty gutsy move by the Spirit. They said it was unfair to let Goodenough come to camp and try to work himself into shape, while others worked hard all summer to come to camp ready to go. They could have just let him go through camp and work himself out of a job, if he's that out of shape. I guess they're sending a message.
Who has been scraping in camp? I hear there were some fights yesterday. Anyone see any of them?
Also, regarding Tyson - it's too bad he's got to go. He's a quality kid and I think this inevitable trade is weighing on him. I hope they get him moved soon so he can start fresh. What a rotten way to go through camp. |

Poor Greg - he's a good kid with solid hands but his weight problem was obvious when he got hurt. After getting hurt, he totally ballooned at the end of the season.
Hope he can work his way thru it - this happens in the NHL, NFL, everywhere but unless you're Shaq (and Greg isn't), you probably will be held accountable.
Best to him getting the pounds off
As for Tyson, surprised that they had him come. I guess a goalie in camp is easier to deal than one who isn't. A deal will get done - one of the 10 teams in the East won't be completely satisfied with their goaltending in a couple weeks. Costa's doing the right thing. No quick fixes to make players happy.

its sad because my daughter thinks tyson is the best. she's got her picture taken with him and a signed puck. one day she asked me if i thought tyson was better than mikey and i said no, she threw a basketball at my head..Wow, i didnt know she thought that much of him..by the way she's only 9 and nobody here has influenced her decision on who to like so i think its genuine. this guy is her fav. i guess i need to get her picture taken with him ..again.....friday's coming...finally some hockey... |

What is going on Friday? Is that the Blue/White Game? If so, I thought that was tomorrow (thurs.) |

This was definitely not a good move for Goodnough, but he is dedicated and will overcome this. He is home working with a trainer one on one. He has listened to the wrong people, and now is home with family regrouping and praying for a new beginning. He has yet to show his potential, and given the opportunity will prove to be a force. Good Luck Greg, this was surely a planned move on Sagainaw's part. Too bad, he had been training in Toronto with a strength coach, for his shoulder and didnt get enough cardio contioning. Greg Good Luck! |

He didn't get enough Cardio Conditioning? I heard that he weighed in at 235 pounds.
I would suggest that he fire the trainer that he had in Toronto.

He was overweight, but not at 235, he weighed in at 221
that is quite different, he was told to report at 190, unrealistic goal. But your right the trainer took all his summer money and ran. He is now at home working with a good guy, and doing fine. | |
