Kostadine has been assinged to Chicago's AHL team in Norfolk. I don't know if he will end up here or not. Bissionette is scheduled to play in Pittsburgh's game Tuesday night.

Right now NHL teams are sending guys that won't make the NHL to AHL training camps.

Kostadine has to beat out the guys sent to AHL camp if he wants to stay there.

With the ECHL on strike, he would come back here if he doesn't make the AHL. Similar to Tataryn's situation last year, I suppose.

As for Bissonnette, I thought Pittsburgh had returned him, but I was mistaken. I am now fearing that they might keep him. They could still return him part-way into the season, ala Steve Eminger......

The bottom line is that the Penguins are not very deep, and their farm system is terrible. That means that an 18 year old kid out of junior has a real chance of making the team. Yikes.

I don't think Pittsburgh will keep him. I think they have to offer him a contract to do so and with the impending lockout looming in the near future, NHL teams are very reluctant to offer any contracts. I heard from the NHL offices that the reason so many college players were taken this year is because the NHL team that drafts an NCAA player has four years to offer him a contract, that would most likely get them through the lockout.

I'm not saying Pittsburgh won't keep him, it's just unlikely, they would have to be in very dire straits with their defense.
