Geoff Platt's goal scoring music

Hi,

I was wondering if someone knows why we get to hear Tom Jones sing "Mustang Sally" every time Geoff Platt scores a goal...

I'm pretty sure Geoff is the only player who has his own goal scoring music, although, Paul Bissonnette has yet to score a goal at home, perhaps if he does we will all get treated to Bachman Turner Overdrive's "Takin' Care of Business"

...I know that is what I would play if Biz ever scores a goal at home...

Along these lines, should anyone else on the team, fan favorites, etc. get their own goal scoring tune as well? If so, what should it be? Should Steve Dix have his own special "fight" tune?

I know this is all based on the Red Wings and their special goal music for a couple of players. If Shanny scores we get to hear an irish jig, if Jason Woolley scores we get to hear "Wooly Bully" by my homies Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs.....

Maybe I'm just coming up with excuses to try to get more Question Mark and the Mysterians played in the arena?

The story goes that last season Geoff was hit on by a women named "Sally" who drove a Ford Mustang. The boys all thought it was funny and asked that it be played after he scores.

If that is true, then it is among the funniest in-jokes of all time.

That IS the funniest inside joke I have ever heard. I also agree with Dix having his own fight music. The problem is, don't you think it would get a little over played?

Wow Disco, is there anything you actually miss? I have missed all but 2 or 3 homes games since the team has been in Saginaw, and I would have never connected that they play it everytime he scores.

Pretty amazing actually.

Keep in mind that Stu is the one with enough concentration to keep track of who's on the ice and for how long. If he can do that, I'm guessing that he can keep track of almost everything that happens in the building!! Stu, you are absolutely amazing!! Keep up the observations.

I work in a scientific field, so I have what some village idiots like to call an analytical mind.

I lived in Albany for a year. When I came back to Saginaw, the first thing that changed that I noticed was the mile markers on U.S. 10. That bugged me for about a week and a half before they began to dissolve into familiarity along with the trees and ditches and "illegally cut tree" signs.

The second thing that I noticed was cell phone towers. They are the bane of my existence. There are so many of them, all over the place, I think they are trying to take over the universe.

The third thing that bugs me is that the 7-Eleven near my house stopped stocking the Hockey News. I had to go all the way to Barnes & Noble to buy them, finally I got so fed up that I decided to subscribe to the thing.

The fourth thing that bugs me, and it has bugged me since I can remember....people who drive around with just their parking lights on and not their headlights. That bugs the crap out of me. Almost as bad as people...right behind me on the road...who have their brights on!

Perhaps I'm like a modern day Don Quixote, except that I'm tilting at cell phone towers

It is worthy of Ripley's but it is true. And funny to boot!

Don't know where you're at, Stu, but I could never for the life of me find a copy of THN either! I was the other guy buying it at Barnes & Noble!!! I searched high & low & B&N was the ONLY place I could find it. That was until about 2 months ago, while I was visiting a little hole-in-the-wall party store literally around the corner from my house out here towards Hemlock on Gratiot called "Tom's Party Store". I noticed that they started carrying THN, so after all my driving & hunting for the darn thing, I found it right around the corner out here in the sticks! I used to subscribe to it, but I missed so many issues or recieved so many double issues (issues stuck together - that belonged to OTHER people) I passed on the subscription thing. Regardless, I'm happily reading THN now out here in the sticks!

Stu, are you the guy I see in section 1 (possibly 2 or 3) behind the defending goal at the top row who has the notebook? Is that you charting gametime?

Nyet.

I have much better seats than that on any given night.

If that guy in Sec 1 is a scout, I can't imagine what he could see looking through that goofy net all game long.

Sitting up high in Sections 14-19 allows you to see the entire ice, no blind spots.
