I have been to probably eight to ten games and I am not impressed with the little guy at all. I heard an awful lot about the guy and was sucked in to believing in him last year but that has all come to a screaming halt. Granted he shows signs of brilliance but the only time you see those signs are when he possesses the puck, I give credit where it's due and he does have an awesome shot but the fact that he flops and dives so much really irritates the hell out of me.I was talking to a fellow Spirit fan a month or so ago and it sounded as if he considered the flopping an asset well I am here to tell you that if an NHL scout happens to be in attendance to witness his lame attempts at drawing a penalty it will be a mark against him.
Another problem with the guy is the fact that he dogs it when he doesnt have the puck come on man play defense or at least make it seem like your trying to catch up to the play going the other way. Oh yea and quit taking stupid penalties the other night he felt the need to push the helmet off a big guy that was down in front of him, the penalty by the way cost us a goal and we eventually ended up tying that game.
There is a rumor going around that Sudbury has some old equipment(two sticks and a pair of skates with no laces) that they are trying to make a trade for hopefully we'll pull the trigger on this one!! See ya Geoff!!!

I don't think Platt is as untouchable as a lot of people think. I also am not a big Platt fan. I agree that he takes shifts off & does not give 100% at all times.

Platt is not producing this season like he should be. I like the way the kid plays (when he actually puts his heart into it) but I think we could get someone more worthwhile in place of him. I don't think it would hurt the team as much as everyone thinks it would to trade him. I would hate to see him go, but you have to do whats best for the team in the long run. Perhaps it would give some other guys the chance to score goals!!!

So who would that leave us with if Platt goes? Lees is short term. This team has got to build up and not constantly trade. So once again we trade off older player for babies and we can continue to say we are building. Do we build forever? That's got to end soon. Take our 85's and help them don't trade them. Platt and Paul are getting creamed by this board lately. They may not be having the greatest year right now but show some committment. They are good players and have done alot for the team. We are to young as it is. If Platt goes watch the flood gates open. Paul, Raska, JM who wants to stay if they get no suport. Sagianw will get a bad rap in the league and no player that's any good will come and we will always be stuck with babies who just want to get into the league and then leave.

I totally agree. I think he is selfish and is only interested in himself on the ice. I also think he has cost us MANY games with his poor play and poor penalties. Right now he is worth more in trade then he is on the ice. My fear is that his poor habbits might rub off on the '86 and '87s. That being said if he changes and Moe can get him to work with and without the puck he could still be a great asset to Saginaw.

Your all hypocrites! You only want to run the best player on the team out of town because he is in a slump, and isnt producing like he was last year.
Platt does have a few issues, he has been passing the puck more, and thats not really a good thing...look at his numbers. I dont understand why any of you think he isnt good in the D end, the Brampton OT was not his fault, he was gassed because he just made a high speed rush the other way. Have any of you watched him cover the point man on the PK? He backchecks pretty well when he has the gas, you can't chase the kid out of town now that he isnt scoring like crazy...Saginaw needs goal scorers..not defenders. He will break out of the slump, and start lighting the lamp again.

First, I would like to say I'm a fan of Platt and also think he is our best player. However, you say gassed, I say quit. Yes he made a rush up ice, but then he had a chance to receive a pass to start a two on one and the puck got caught up in his skates. That is just an unfortunate break that even happens to the stars of the BIG N. However, to come to a complete stop as the Battalion storm into our zone is unacceptable. That said, at the risk of sounding corny, I will try not to post any more negatives about the Spirit players. After all, they are still young men (and some even young kids yet) giving it their all! Now as for me bashing management........

I dissagree. I think Platt is one of our best players. He does dive too much, I will give you that. However, he is an awesome skater and puts the puck in the net. He has not been getting as many goals as last year, but it will pick up.
