I have it on good authority Geoff Platt has left the hockey team and is back home awaiting a trade from the Spirit. Sounded like a pretty mutual decision - hopefully a deal gets made fast for another offensively gifted player. Platt wanted out and the team didn't particularly like his recent play -- probably inevitable.
Bottom line - Platt is done in Saginaw. Feel free to discuss.

I heard that as well. See what they have to say on the radio tonight. Isn't there a trade freeze coming up for the Holidays? He may have to sit for a few weeks.
Just gives more minutes to Pyatt.

I agree with rachel. Geoff we a great player and im gonna be sad to see him go.
Why do you people(not rachel) always have to bash the players. you never seem to have anything good to say about them. You say your fans but true fans wouldnt bash him or be glad to see one go. Good luck to you geoff.
and i know your gonna yell at me so just save it i dont care.

It's calling a spade a spade. Geoff could be a great player, but has chosen to think he is a star. He is not. He will never play in the NHL. AHL if he's lucky, but more likely, he will end up in the ECHL someday, and be a 2nd or 3rd line player.

Uh, cuz we don't think they are cute. We don't think their hockey ability has anything to do with their looks.
Puckbunnies, or Plattbunnies, PLEASE go to your Bunny Board!!! I get sick of hearing the "I LOVE YOU" crap.

BTW, the Spirit will NEVER... EVER call Geoff begging him to come back! They'll be lucky to trade him & his ego! Of course, there are a few teams out there that don't care if they have a team full of egos, so we'll probably find a taker for him, but I doubt we'll get much for him. I hope we get something good, but I doubt it.

im not a puck bunnie or a plattbunnie as you say
i think geoff was a good player and i wasnt atracted to him. the point is you call youselfs fans when you bash them. whether they are the best player or not they need your support and if giving support and cheering when they win or lose and NOT on their looks makes me a puckbunnie then i think you need to rethink what you said

Jenna,
We are fans and we don't just bash the players, we call it as we see it. We all give credit to those guys who play hard night in and night out and we criticize those who don't in hopes that they will somehow find out just what some of us think of their play and that they will step it up a bit. I'm the biggest "Biz Basher" on this board but when I saw him take out that soo player at the blueline in the second period last week I stood up and cheered for him! So I would say we are fans and obviously not just fair weather fans
As for Geoff, one of my favorite players he is very exciting to watch, he has to be one of the best skaters and puck handlers on the team, the problem is that he knows it. Platt has whined about being here all along, I'm surprised it took this long to move him and as I understand it it was the teams decision to send him home, not his. How many times have we all heard "there is no I in team", Geoff needs to write that on the ole chalk board a thousand times.
Geoff, if your reading this, good luck to you, I hope you learn a lesson from all this and you become a better TEAM player where ever you end up.

There is no way you can question any of us on here about being a fan of the Saginaw Spirit. We obviously ALL are fans, and darn good ones at that.
HOWEVER, there is nothing wrong with calling a player out if he is playing poorly or creating other problems with the team.
Platt IS an excellent player, but has so much more potential. Platt also has an ego the size of a house! The ego is what I am griping about. It has been a detriment to our team since he got here! When Geoff plays hard, he can be a dominating forward in this league. However when he only plays that way every third shift, it's easy to get frustrated with him. Geoff Platt is not (was not) the end all be all of the Saginaw Spirit. The team will go on, and the team will improve. They will be a better team on AND OFF the ice with him gone.
Good luck Geoff. Check your ego at the door at your next stop, and you will be a dominant player in the OHL! Hopefully this will be a lesson learned for this young man.

Coudn't agree more. I could tell he had an ego problem midway through last year. And, when talking with the players this season, he was a bigger problem at practice and in the locker room. Remember, the team sees much more than we do in the stands. When we see him coast, they see it in spades! They are glad to be rid of him and were hoping for this for a long time.
