A few notes:
The team is planning to dress Jagodich for the home game tonight, and I would suspect also for the home game this Saturday.
Birr and Fabiano are both in Junior A and appear to be scoring at a pretty good pace. Fabiano was called up and played in a couple of games for the North Bay Centennials in 2001-02, so he cannot go to the NCAA. Why not give either of these players a shot with the club? We need offense and both of these players seem to be able to provide it in a league that is just one level below Saginaw.
Most of other the non-OHL picks in 2000, 2001, and 2002 do not appear all that impressive. Mike Mills (13th Round '02) showed promise in Junior A, but we ended up trading him to Sudbury for pretty much nothing.
The 2003 draft will be incredibly impressive if we can get Phil Kessel on board. The rumor going around right now is that Phil plans to do what one of his buddies on the U-17 team (also drafted by an OHL team) plans to do. His buddy is let's say leaning more towards the OHL than the NCAA right now. We need to offer Phil whatever we gave to Patrick McNeill. He's that good and we need him.
Suggs is having a decent year in Midget Major, and Tuckey and McParland are having decent years in Junior B. Hard to tell if they will make next year's team or not. But there is always a chance.
I have to give Greg Fisher a lot of respect. Many young goaltenders his age are not as ambitious as he is. He is playing Junior A, while a lot of other 16 year old goalies would rather be in Midget Major (as Aaron Rock is). He's struggling a bit, but I think will be better for it (facing tougher competition).
I am bugged by the fact that I cannot get individual statistics for some Midget Major teams via the Internet. That makes it very hard to track each pick's individual progress.
For a player of his alleged talent level, Kevin Porter is having a very disappointing year. Kind of makes me happy that he did not agree to come here. We have enough players of the Borges & Raszka level in Saginaw.
