This is my first posting here, but since I have limited time online these days I'm going to try to make it count (I apologise in advance for it's length).
I had a great time in Pittston and want to thank everyone who came for making the gig as kickass an event as it turned out to be. Everyone seemed very pleased and the bands I had a chance to catch some of were in top form. The Independents are always amazing, and I saw a bit of the (very impresive) stage act from the band Korr. I wish I had caught more of their act, as it looked fucking awesome. They had a full BDSM display happening, mounts, chains, whips, and all.Matt, Korr's frontman, was actually the first person I brought up on stage for abuse. I figured that if he could dish it out he could certainly take it... He took his beating very well and even came back later for more!
I met with the whole band after the show and picked up one of their CDs. If you're into death metal at all you should definitely check it out as well. Their sound is tight, well-polished, and they have a lot of fine intricacies weaved into the songs which give the band a very unique, well composed, almost industrial sound. It's seriously good stuff, and I rarely get into death metal. When I spoke to him later he sent me to their page on Myspace.com (
http://www.myspace.com//users/korr) where they actually have 4 full tracks which will play in your browser. He also convinced me to set up a page which is
http://profiles.myspace.com/users/9974373 in case anyone is interested. I basically put it up as a way to keep people up to date on when my site will be relaunched and when I do promotional giveaways and such. It's been a little too entertaining actually... Have to make it a point to focus on work and things.
Anyway, I think Chud's set went great and I'm sooooooo glad that I made the time to meet up with the X-Ward in Pittston. I have to admit that I did have my doubts about how the night would turn out, as the ride there from NYC was pretty treacherous. The fog was so thick that we nearly got completely lost in it, and we nearly ended up hitting a doe who ran across the highway through the insane fog. I was almost amazed that we (and all of the DV equipment) were able to make it there in one piece, and I can't begin to explain how happy I was to see the band again and to not be in the car anymore.
The next night was in NYC at the Continental which is a smaller stage in very old school punk atmosphere. I felt glad to be home and want to thank my fellow New Yorkers for coming out and making it a good time, even though it
was a Sunday night and I know a lot of you have "proper day jobs" or things to do the next day other than recovering from a hangover you got from drinking at a show. You guys rock and your presence was definitely appreciated.
I'm very eager to see photos and footage from the gigs when they become available. I had as great of a time participating in the stage shows as I did making the POWERLESS video. These guys are awesome to work with, and Chud is one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to know. I absolutely had to make the time to show up for some gigs when he invited me along, and I will definitely make time for other show dates if he asks me.
It was great meeting so many of you and I can't wait to do some more appearances in the future (they will nearly always be a surprise though...).
Thanks Chud, and thanks to everyone who came out and made Halloween weekend great!
Cheers,
D.
