I'm just trying to get a public opinion here, because I'm not really sure how to feel about this situation.
It stands as this: I love going to concerts, and especially of bands I love I like to try getting shots of them. I've uploaded them to a Myspace account (and another one which is to be mentioned later) with no watermark bearing my name on them. Am I at fault for being mildly irritated if someone wants to use one of my pictures without telling me, and I don't want monetary compensation?
Granted, they are pictures of a band and they are copyright themselves. Also, I uploaded them with no watermark.
I don't want to feel like a b!+ch for wanting my name to be listed somewhere as a photographer, please leave your honest opinions. I'm very, very appreciative that CHUD thought two of my pictures were good enough to be used for his website (in the Gorgeous Frankenstein 08 and Blitzkid sections), but I wouldn't mind being listed or at least linked.
Because of this from now on I'm no longer uploading any pictures (Myspace or my Photobucket account) without watermarks, because not having a press pass and taking pictures from the crowd can be at times very, very difficult. Especially when your camera has no viewfinder and your display screen is broken, leaving you little to no idea where you're shooting.
If your not a professional photographer than whats the problem? If the band was nice enough to LET YOU take pictures then why would'nt you LET THEM use them?(not to make a profit to add)AND if you want credit, i guess you can just ask them to credit you. i don't see why they would'nt do that for you, chud does it all the time, i had a picture that chud used and when i told him it was mine he said no problem and credited me, and that sometimes you get a photo and you dont know where it came from, hence your no water mark. So if your not a pro photographer i would just be happy they used your photo. Just my 2 cents.
Dr. Chud includes this message on most of the picture pages.
"Thanks again to all who sent in pictures! Anyone's photo credit we missed just contact us at thexward@hotmail.com and we will put it up right away. If anyone is interested in who is in a picture OR who took it...simply place your mouse over the picture!

I don't mean to make a problem,and I understand that Blitzkid and Gorgeous Frankenstein weren't being complete hardasses and saying "NO PICTURES." I do appreciate that they let us fiends snap some shots of them. I am happy that they used my picture, but I would have at least liked a notification that one of my pictures was used. While some of my pictures taken (given the sorry condition of my camera) are luck shots, I do want to try pursuing professional photography as a side note to my current Pre-Nursing degree in progress and when one of my pictures is good enough to make a site (Luck or not), I would like notification that I've been selected to be featured.

A note to Nursemurcelous above me I haven't exactly been on good terms with the Doctor lately. Again, I am grateful that my pictures (One each in the Gorgeous Frankenstein and Blitzkid 08 tour section) have been used, but I do have other work aside from bands I'm going to start doing. Though, being mentioned for good shots of bands are perfectly alright with me.
YOU ARE NOT A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER, SO JUST BE GLAD SOMEONE EVEN LIKED YOUR STUPID PICTURES. A NORMAL HUMAN BEING WOULD BE EXCITED TO SEE SOMEONE USED THEIR NON-PROFESSIONAL WORK AND LIKED IT.
I HOPE CHUD TAKES YOUR STUPID PICTURES OFF HIS SITE, BECAUSE YOU ARE A TOTAL JERK. FOR NOW YOU SHOULD SHUT YOUR B!TCH HOLE AND BE HAPPY.
First this topic should be deleted, because when I checked the picture pages the first few times, there were no directions on how to have your name listed as a photographer. Secondly to "I TOLD YOU SO" and "yourpowerless", with no login: Oh goodness, all capital letters. Scary as hell. "I TOLD YOU SO" should also learn how to read, please, because I mentioned in my first and second response that I -was- grateful the good Doctor was using two of my pictures (even if he did throw a color film over one).
