Well, first I apologise for not being on the board this last month or so but my computer has….played me up, no end…..it has nearly been thrown out more than once with sheer frustration! I have changed my server so hope …fingers toes and everything else crossed , I can at last get Internet access.
Just been catching up on topics around here…..nice to see gina is still talking…Hi there Girl…missed you! Course I missed the rest of you too, Kirby, Mule, Dave, and the other regulars
Hay…Gina I was shocked to see you didn’t want to join in the FUN and wish to go back in time….to a Frontier House …sure you would not miss your fridge, cooker, ….better still come over here to the Islands of Scotland we still have a few places where there is no mains electricity yet .
Dogs….well, now Mmm, I agree with much of what has already been said. Males can be very dominant (Dogs, that is) yes and when trying to gain a footing even my Henry peed in my front hall each morning in trying to show me he was top dog…well, he did it a few times….then hehehe he didn’t do it again as I proved I was more dominant than he, and Midge my German Shepherd also took him to task after the first couple of days and he knew that he had slipped even further down the ranks. He like all working Guide Dogs are neutered so I don’t get the wandering and he doesn’t run free anyway unless he is in a park.
Females are so loyal and my Shepherd was so gentle. She was so intelligent and sometimes knew what I was thinking…she also had a great memory and didn’t like being told off and took it to heart. Labradors can be …to be polite, thick at times, Henry yes, is a highly trained dog, but if he gets told off for not working safely and gets checked it is like water off a ducks back and he couldn’t have cared less the tail still wags. The shepherd would have lowered her head and her ears would have been plastered backwards onto the top of her head and her tail would have dropped then you’d to bring her back up by praising her in some way as she took even the lightest of corrections very much to heart.
Take your time in choosing a dog Gina, remember it will be with you for many years and should grow with your children. Maybe take a look at some of your friends dogs to see how they cope and how you handle them. Borrow one for a day and try it out, maybe under supervision. Don’t just choose any old thing and yes your time commitment to the animal must also be investigated as if your out for hours on end and the dog is left alone, well, it’s not much use getting a puppy they are like babies they need you 24/7.
Anyway….missed you guy’s lots and lots and now…I am back and catching up on looking up my favourite web pages. Funny how most of them are Western sites?
So What’s new around here…what have I missed? Do tell!
There's nothing more frustrating than computer problems, ya know? I'm real even tempered, but when my computer bugs out, I can become pretty irritable while trying to troubleshoot the problem-which ends up dragging out for weeks. Ugh. The only other thing I hate more is being without my car. I don't even like to trade cars with Rich. I'm all out of sorts without my wheels. Is that weird?
I knew you'd have some valuable opinions to add about dogs, Janette. I think you're right about Labs being thick headed. I had to chuckle about Mule's suggestion to get a pug. I love all animals and think they're really cute and would never hurt anything in real life, but, when I see those trembling little yipper yappers, especially ones with bulging eyes or bows in their hair, I get an urge to drop kick it for a field goal. I know. I'm terrible. Go ahead and say that all cats are good for are toilet bowl brushes. It's okay :)
As far as stepping back in time to Frontier House, could you imagine if all of us were given the challenge? Now THAT would be one funny show! Oh man. They'd have to bleep out a lot of what I would be saying.
Anyway, I'm glad everything is back to normal for you. And, like you, I hope to hear more from everyone who used to post a lot.
I just stopped by to take a look round, where is everyone??
As for the Pioneer House and going back in time...*grin* I would have loved it, don't mind hard work could quite happily live without luxuries and it would have enabled families to get closer or discover that in the hard environment they are not suited as they may discover a new side of each others character that they don’t particularly like
Janette I was wondering what had happened to you. Thought you were on vaction or something. Glad you are back on the net. Missed your Scottish humour. Kate
Thanks Kate...Scottish humour...well, glad to think I have one...heheh. Nice to be missed! Thanks...good to be back even though my internet problems haven't been resolved 100% well not yet may have to holler some more at my computer!!! Janette
