Last Thursday here in BC forst fires forced around 10,000 people to flee there homes near Kamloops after officals gave the evacuation notice. The worst hit is the small town of Barriere with a population of around 3500. 75 houses are destroyed and a few business plus a possibly a swamill. Forestry officials are saying this is the worst year for fires in the last 50 years. I feel sorry for the families but at least the government is helping out with some releif money to help them get back on their feet. Kate in BC

Sounds scary. Hope the fires steer clear of your area, Kate and that all your loved ones are safe. Good luck.

Hi Gina. We are on Vancouver Island so are quite far away from Kamloops but we did have a small forest fire here last week but the water bomber put the fire out in about 4 or 5 hours as they could reload from the ocean. Kate
