Hey there!
You wouldn't believe how glorious a day it is today, and tomorrow is supposed to be the same. We just got 6 days straight of rain, and Thursday, we're expecting another 6, with Friday, being the worst because of hurricane Isabel. It's going to be bad.

I'm just getting over the devastation from all the 9/11 memorials. In some ways, watching the footage 2 years later is harder than living it when it happened. I was packing the car to go to JFK because we were supposed to fly out to Yellowstone. My sister called and said "you're not going anywhere!" Then she said we're under attack and that a plane hit the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. I turned on the TV just in time to see the 2nd plane hit the other tower. At that time, we lost all but 2 TV stations and cell phones and internet service. I called my family and friends who work around that area to make sure they were safe, and they were. Thank God. Rich had gone in to work for a little bit, and all the guys ran up to the top of the building he was on and were able to see the collapse and the smoke. The only person I know who lost someone was my old boss, who lost his 43 year old son-in-law, Orio Palmer. He was a fire fighter and left behind a wife who is going blind and three young children. How tragic. Rich's brother, who is a construction worker for the NYC transit authority got called down for clean up. He worked almost around the clock that first week, and showed us pictures of the horror and destruction. One picture was the outline of a woman's body impacted on the side of a brick building across the street, as if she had been vaporized. What a sad day for humanity.
The next morning I went to the doctor and found out I was pregnant with Sophia. A week later, we did get to go to Yellowstone with Kirby and his family, and it was a great experience.

On the bright side, I saw Cheri's horses. They're absolutely beautiful. Her foals are adorable, as are her two calves. COWS! I'm sure you have cute legs, too, Cheri. hee hee. I really like Chaos, and he really does look like the horse Kirby painted.

Well, enough rambling. Hope you're all having nice weather.
G

Hi Mule
Since we live so close, not much sense in talking about our weather......but where are all of the other
guys (and gals)? Say did you ever get those pictures
you were going to post from the Trail ride?

Grand Teton and Jackson Hole

September 18 2003, 8:37 PM

I surprised Debbie by taking her to Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park for our anniversary, and I had someone come in and work for me on the seventeenth so we could stay over. It snowed on us that morning, and most of the day. It was beautiful! The mountains were mostly covered with fog and clouds all day, and when it cleared the sun struck across snow and frost covered trees, and snow lay down on the forest floor where the sun couldn't get to it. It was gorgeous. it was time for "Art in the Parks," and we looked at some absolutely incredible artwork while there. I don't know how the judges could ever pick a winner out of the top 200 they had come up with. Maybe twenty of them weren't that great, but most were incredible. Most of all, though, it was the beautiful snowy weather I loved. I'm so glad that horrible summer got shunted out of here. If I never have a summer that hot again it will be too soon!

Kirby
