Help me out

April 13 2004, 9:03 PM

Hi Anonymous!

You asked how often the site gets updated, and that leads me to get in here and ask you and anyone else who wants to respond a few questions. I'll treat this kind of like a poll. I've been thinking about the site an awful lot in the past two weeks, and thinking I should put up some new stuff, but I'd like all your input.

If you can find the time, please answer these questions for me.

1) How often in a month do you access this site, on the average?

2) What new things would you like to see added?

3) Of the following categories, what interests you most on the site?

a) Johnny West
b) Novels
c) Poetry (mostly the "cowboy" variety)
d) Short stories
e) Newsletters
f) Biography pages
g) New humiliating photos of Kirby (haha)
h) Other (Specifics?)
i) Message board
j) Sample chapters

4) Are you tired of the look of the home page? Ready for something new?

5) Do you want more newsletters? Fewer?

Any of this information would help me and Kenny greatly when deciding what to do with the site. I appreciate your help!

Kirby

Just Wondering

April 14 2004, 7:21 AM

Hi, Kirby!

I usually check in at least once a day, although I don't always log in.

I would like to hear about any movies, television shows or books that interest you.

I would like to hear about any western fan opportunities that you know about, especially those in which you participate.

Please continue to preview your books and tell us about your collaborators. Also any news about your collaborators.

I don't have any problems with the homepage -- plain is OK as far as I'm concerned. Or are you talking about your other website? Humiliating pictures are in the eye of the beholder. Curious about your family.

If you have any curious tidbits about life in the West, please share.

Kaye P.

Kirby,

I check the web site out everyday. I would like to continue seeing the updates about your new novels coming out and any short stories you have. The forum is a must for your web site. I would like to see more newsletter and to maybe hear from the wife once in a while.

I enjoy anything that you think might intertest us.

Keep up the good work and I'll keep coming to the fireside.

Kirby,

I check your site most days and try to read through the messages even when I don't respond. I have always liked the poetry & short story pages. Also your paintings are great. Updates on any projects you are working on and any local appearances would be good.

Hi Kirby and Ken,

It's all good.
I guess it's time for a little redesign- just to shake things up and keep it interesting. I like the look of that classic western stuff- like those old wanted posters and some of those traditional 50's illustrations of bucking bronco's and cowboy buckaroos. Maybe it's hokey, but somehow, it works with this subject, and you can still contemporize it for your site. Hey, your homepage should be saloon doors that swing open to enter your site. heh heh. Just a thought.
Anyway, I'm sure whatever you do it will be great as always.
You should record some of your songs that we can download and listen to.
The name Kirby Jonas could be synonymous with the western, just as Time-Warner is in the entertainment industry :) Maybe someday, right?

Update

April 17 2004, 12:45 PM

Hi Kirby

I look in on the message board most days (except when I'm on vacation or short holidays). I do go for periods without looking at anything depending on my mood.
It's a good idea to re-invent a site's design every so often to stop it looking stale. This appears to have happened on the James Drury site which badly requires an update.
