Guy... Thanks for the note about the falling leaves.
The trees here are still green. But we had some leaves fall a few weeks ago but none lately.
Middle of AUGUST was a COLD day or two.... I put a wool blanket back on the bed. But it has been warm again now.
Anybody out there getting hit by those hurricane storms?
I can't even begin to emmagine 100 MPH plus winds........
I rode a motorcycle at 120 MPH once just to say I have and the wind from that experiance has been slowed down in the nearly 35 years since I did it.
Aleta's graft clotted up, they replaced it, it clotted again, so they went in and did the first stage of the switch surgery with her own parts instead of teflon. She was off the ventilator very quickly and shortly thereafter off the oxygen, too. She's supposed to be coming home this weekend. That's one tough baby!
There's a celebrity rodeo in Abilene, TX, the first weekend in November with a whole lot of our old favorite Western stars scheduled to appear.
Hauled a horse to Pueblo, CO, over the Labor Day weekend. Interesting high desert country. I miss the mountains, big-time! Illinois is flat as a fritter, and once they knock down all those cornstalks, the wind whistles through here at a pretty stiff pace. Nothing like what those poor folks in Florida have to put up with, though. Hope I can get another crop of hay in before winter hits. Larry the Farrier just left, we both noticed the horses are starting to put on winter fur. Be afraid, be VERY afraid!
Keep the hat side up and the boot side down.... :)
Kaye, I hope Aleta gets better now after the new surgery. Keep us posted. I feel terrible about all this. She's tough, like you said.
We got hit with absolute torrential downpours for three days this past week. The rain never stopped for a second, and it was hard, driving rain. But, the great news is that our basement stayed dry! Whew!!! I'm sure we'll be getting hurricane Ivan soon. I'm trying to enjoy the sun and nice weather while it's here.
We'll probably try to close the pool, tomorrow. That is always the signal that cold weather is here to stay for a long while. Seeing that black cover all those months is so dreary and depressing. I love the fall more than anything, I love the spring, but, those long, cold, dark months after Christmas are something I dread even thinking about. I think we're in for a really bad winter.
Its been so long since Ive been in here. Nice to see that everyone is well.
Kaye, Im so glad that Aleta has made it through another challenging time. You are right she is one tough little baby.
I'm on the move again... Still working for the church but it is one strange place to work.. the phycho that looks like Charles Manson who threatened to kill me and the minister showed up again. This time he marched into our young ministers office and cornered her,, She managed to get out and ran to my office. Once again we barracaded ourselves in my office and called the police. They never showed even though there is a warrant out for his arrest.
So needless to say Im not feeling so safe,, Im looking for work further west of here in the country, a new place to live and a new school for my daughter..
The prices are so much better there... Right now Im paying 1200.00 a month in rent for a two bedroom apartment. Condos near the church are being built with the starting price of 599,000.00. Its insane. I could buy a huge working farm in the area Im moving to for that.. but of course cant afford that... For the same money Im paying here I could buy a 4 bedroom house .. the one I have my eye on was built in 1870's with a backyard that looks onto a small river.
Have to admit that Ive been working so much when the weekends come Im ready to get out of the city.. Gina.. My date way back in June.. remember him?
Well he is amazing... We are now spending all our free time together, my daughter adores him and Ive met his whole family. We've been spending most weekends in the country as his brother has a big old farm and his sister has
a gorgeous place in the county with 40 acres of wilderness, moose, deer , you name it ... So Liz is one big happy camper..
Gina, how has the new school year turned out for the kids? Are you getting any time to yourself?
Guy , my daughter is learning French for the first time in school.. she has a learning disability but wouldnt you know it she has taken to French like
flys on you know what .. SO now at dinner we speak a little FRENCH ...

( Je suis Canadienne !!! Guy, sorry for the bad attempt at spelling . Im sure my daughter will be teaching me a few things over the next while).
Hi Elizabeth,
Great to hear your update. You have a lot on your plate. I hope it all works out and you get a safer job and better place to live. That kind of excitement you don't need. Sounds like things have progressed nicely with new guy. I forgot his name. Sorry! Hope it keeps going in a good way for you!
Yep, housing prices are unbelievable. Your e-mail was a reminder to me to be thankful for the little house we have. Sometimes you don't realize how lucky you are. I don't want to sound shallow or envious, but sometimes, I wonder how all these people where I live afford these big house and expensive cars and exotic vacations when we're just keeping our head above water. Then, when you posted that, I think, who cares? We're healthy, we're making it. That's what counts. Although a nice vacation wouldn't hurt :)
Sounds like your daughter found a niche. It's amazing how quick kids pick things up, like language, music, etc. Now's the time to learn it.
