Well here in Bardstown we haven't totally dugged out from the ice storm. Three to six inches of ice.
My yard looks like a diaster area. I've totally lost 4 of my beautiful white pine trees. I planted those trees in 1980. I got them from my grandfathers old farm. My Uncle helped me pick them out. He wanted to make sure I got the best ones for my place. These trees had grown to he huge and beautiful. It broke my heart to watch them being destroyed by all that ice. But we were really fortunate because 2 people lost their homes. The ground is still covered by ice so I can't get out there to do any thing right now. It's hard to tell how much this will cost just to clean up. At least I'm off from work until Jan 3 so if it clears up this week I'll be able to get started.
What about you folks? Are you doing OK? I hope so. I know I haven't been on here much lately. But I'll try to do better this coming New Year.
Hi Garry,
Sorry to hear about that storm. There will be a lot to clean up in the spring. So me a favor - don't send that storm my way. I guess maybe take Mule's advice. Nuthin' you can do about it now. Hope it clears up soon.

I've stopped worrying about the mess in my yard. Now I'm worried about my 5 year old granddaughter Juju. She is in Kosair's Children Hospital with double bacterial pneumonia. She's been really sick for the past 3 days. She made 2 trips to the local hospital before they finally decided to send her to Kosair's Children. But the roads have been so bad that my daughter didn't want to go that far at first. When I went to the hospital today to see her she was much better. She was just worried about her sister Melody. They are really close and she was missing her. Well I've got to go lay down. I slipped and fell today on the ice and now my bottom is really sore. So I've got to lay down.
Hey Garry - me too - I slipped and fell when I was shoveling, just after I wrote this morning, and my shoulder is killing me. Stupid me - I was wearing my old worn out snow boots with no grips on the bottom, even though I have new boots, because I was "saving" them. GRRRR. I'm such a jerk. Don't ask me what I'm saving them for. For when I crack my head open?
I'm sorry to hear about your granddaughter being sick and in the hospital. It's good that she's there, because those doctors know what to do, and they're gonna make sure she gets better. I'm sure with all the fluids and medicine she'll be home in no time. Rest easy.
Gary,
Sorry you are having such a rough time. We - here in Idaho- are having a pretty dry winter so far. Would like
to see some snow but I'll pass on the ice.
Glad your granddaughter is doing better. Nothing scarier
than a sick child.
Hope all of those aching parts of your anatomy are feeling
better (you too Gina). Maybe you should both just stay inside for a few days.
I just got in here on a whim tonight and read about your troubles with the ice. I'm sorry to hear about that. Lots of bad stuff going on all around the globe, I guess. It sure makes me appreciate the dry winter Linda mentioned.
After my accident last year with a chain saw, I hired a professional to take down my trees. He's getting them down as I speak. He'll clean up all the mess too.
I would love to sit back and read a book but I've got my 2 grandsons here and they require my constant attention. Right now the 2 year old is sleeping and the 6 year old is playing Nintendo.
Today it's about 55 degrees. Now that is my kind of winter.
Hey , we had ice rain all night or just about, and now its rain...all day we`ve had rain.
I fear its gonne freeze later today...and tonight.
Anyway Take care all -and have a happy and safe new year`s eve and day.... tomorrow. Peace Guy
