I feel horrible that I haven't been in here for so long to check on all my friends. Hey, you do get a newsletter once in a while, I guess, but this is a more personal place. Sorry for staying away so long. I finally got my emails cut down to around 50 to 100, depending upon the day, and I was so excited I started staying away from the computer as much as possible while I try to get some writing and other things done.
Just tonight, for the first time since I was asked over a month ago, I started learning two new songs on the guitar that I will be singing at my captain's wedding Memorial Day weekend. I'm such a putz! These are two very tough songs, so of course being me I put this off till what amounts to the last minute. I'm having to learn several new chords. I feel like a rank beginner!!! I'm used to playing the old standbys. I guess as music matures they have to keep putting these new weird chords in it so all the songs won't sound alike.
I got me a terrific sunburn yesterday. I can't believe it! One good day for an hour and a half run up the mountain, and I have to come down burned! I didn't even notice it until last night.
I can't say that I have a book ready for you, Mule. I feel bad about that, but I guess that's where the part about being a "dollar short" comes in. Well, I'm a little short on energy, too, but that's another story. Anyway, my cover designer finally called ME! I had been thinking about calling him all day, and he must have felt the vibes. So we're getting together, and it looks like come heck or high water I'm going to have this book out in a couple of months. Then the other one is soon to follow. As Gina can tell you, they have to come out one right after the other, or my fans will be wanting to shoot me! It's one of those cliffhangers. But I didn't have a choice. It was just too long.
There is so much news to share with you all. Maybe I'll write a book instead!!! As always, there are several books in the works at once now, as I wait for the inevitable one to grab hold and carry me away. Then that is the one I'll finish. Right now I even have a fantasy novel in the works. Most of the beings on the planet Kivawndo have a humanoid body, but they have faces that are a mix between human and animal features. It's a story I made into a comic book type of feature when I was in the 7th and 8th grade. Finished a trilogy of it, at least a ream of paper, colored drawings of the rebels of the planet Kivawndo trying to escape imprisonment by the brutal Clondolids, led by Kwasako Clon. Yeah, I know, it doesn't sound like me. I'm sure it'll get dragged under when one of the Westerns takes hold.
Well, I guess I've caught you up enough. I'll try to get in here more often, but it seems like I'm not the only one making myself scarce. You ought to see my Johnny West group! And Kaye can tell you about the Virginian group. Dang! Now THERE is some conversation, and LOTS of it! I can't even keep up. So I guess you all oughtta be happy it's at least a little peaceful here.
I hope to hear from some of you guys. Dave? Garry? Ron? Kenny? Marqueta? Sam? Where is everyone????? But hey, it was sure good to see the rest of you. Always a pleasure!
I'm still here I just don't post very often. I've been under the weather but that's normal. I started a new postion at my job and it has a lot of stress along with it. So I could use a new Kirby Jonas book to read.
I haven't heard from Gina in a long time but then again I haven't been doing any e-mailing myself. The weather is great here and everybody in my family are Ok.
Since I'm here today I want to say hello to everyone. Hello Everyone.
Well I'm gonna get off of here and head to bed. you guys take care.
My sentiments exactly - I'm spinning my wheels, too, feeling like I'm always playing catch-up and lagging behind. It sounds like we're all in the same boat. Maybe we bring it on ourselves. Nah.
Well, hopefully soon Kirby's next book will be out. We've all waited so patiently.
Garry, congratulations on your promotion. That's terrific. I'm sure it was long overdue. They usually are. Don't let them stress you out. I know that's easier said than done.
Break time's over. I'd better get back to everything I have to do before morning. Talk to you again.
Man, it's great to hear from you. It's been a long time! I know this board's been kinda dead. I hope that's not ALL my fault!!!! I hope everyone just got bored. Right????
Anyway, good to see you all.
Hey Kirby, Good to see you on the board. I'm really
intrigued by the sci-fi book. Seems so un-Kirby but
yet they're really about the same thing - always a good vs evil theme - space cowboys right!
If it's only a dollar short for a new book I'd be glad to
pay :-).

Hey Kirby,
You knew the second I read "sunburn" the hippie side of me was gonna pop out... get yourself some aloe vera gel and stick it in the ice box for an hour or so... then slather it where it hurts. Takes the burn right out and you feel better right away!
How'd you get a sun burn anyway... though the snow was headed your way or did I turn the map upside down again?
Always yours,
Lori Johnson, VERY PROUD owner of Kirby Jonas's "Wolf/Lobo" #88
Well, it was up in the 60's and up to 70 one day, so that's when i got the sunburn. My oldest son, Jacob, and I went up the mountain behind the house on a marathon hike. Man, that got us both good! But mostly it just burned me! I was able to run the last twenty yards or so to the top, mostly just to get it over with. It was 50 minutes to the top wearing 5 pound boots and a 20 pound weight belt. I was looking for an hour long workout. Guess I'll have to get a heavier belt...or pack Debbie up the mountain like I used to. Man, those were the days! haha
