New poll

I have found someone who is good at websites and not so tied up that they can't at least help me with updating this one. Now what I'd like to know is:

If you could pick ONE thing to have updated, what would it be?

What would you add to the section you picked?

If it makes it any easier, put your top three choices. I know I'll be updating and adding "for sale" pages because I have a ton of Johnny West items I need to move, but beyond that...what needs fixed first?

I like some of Gina's ideas, even if they are pretty far out. (Just like Gina) I do think you should keep the book
page updated. Brief outline of the books, expected
publishing date, that type of thing. Their isn't even a
mention about your new book with Clint. Also, I think
you should add an apperance link showing where you'll be
doing signings and other performances. Do you still do
that?

If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Yes, all very good ideas, Linda. I think along with the appearance thing, he should add a map outlining his travels so we can track him, just like they do on that little computer screen on airplanes, so you can track your flight. I always just sit there staring at that, playing a little game, guessing exactly at what time that dot is gonna move. It's something to do while I'm crossing my legs, waiting for the right moment to ask the stranger next to me to move so I can get up to go the bathroom. heh heh.

Gina, the perfect time to ask the passenger next to you
to get up is right after the have come back, taken their seat & fasten their seat belt.

Re: New poll

Ha haaa!!! Linda, that's great! And TRUE! They actually get SO ANNOYED that you have to get up to use the bathroom. It's the same thing when you have to sit next to anyone anywhere and you're not next to the aisle. Yankee Stadium, for instance. I don't get annoyed when people have to get up, but last year, there were some guys that were up literally in the top and bottom of every inning - and they didn't even have little kids or anything! How much could anyone eat or drink? I was kinda mad, but I didn't let on. Then, they left early, and we were so glad! Movie Theaters, same thing. Church? Forget it. When we get there, every single pew has two old people on the aisle, and the whole middle section is empty. When I come in toting a bunch of kids and bottles and diaper bags, they never move in, they always get up so that you have to sit in the middle - which is just plain stupid, because half the time we have to bring somebody to the back or to the bathroom or something, and then they get REALLY mad!

Today was a glorious day. Soph pooped on the toilet for the first time. We have been working on this, constantly, diligently, for 6 months and four days now, and it finally happened. I can't tell you how happy we all were, and I can't tell you how frustrating it's been. I think potty training is one of the hardest things. It's such a head trip. And you should see what came out! I think she's 3 lbs lighter. heh heh.

Okay, enough about my favorite subjects.

Gina, That last part comes under the catagory of waaaaay
too much information :) I do remember what a streeful thing potty training can be. I am so glad all of that is
very far behind me.

Dave, I disagree with you on the "where are you going to be" part. Any author's web page I have visited lists
where they are appearing and doing book signings. Just
because the author is there doesn't mean the whole family
is gone.

...which makes it an even more serious situation if your wife and/or kids are home alone. I realize I come from a different perspective than most when it comes to security.
I spent over 30 years in that business. Local and federal.
From protecting national security to people. Prepare for the worst but always hope for the best. My advice to anyone who is considered a celebrity...don't give your privacy away, to include your schedule.

You've both brought up a good point, here. On one hand, you could never be too safe and there are lots of whackos out there. Real whacked. But, on the other hand does Madonna's house get robbed or her kids get kidnapped every time she's in concert? I mean, thousands of people know when and where her concerts are. She probably has a lot better security than Kirby, though.
Well, one good thing is that Kirby uses a p.o. box address on his website. As his celebrity status gets more momentous, he might have to move to a gated community. All the Yankees live in them, and I haven't heard any security issues. Of course, if anyone ever did break into their houses, there'd be hundreds of thousands of people ready to pulverize the guy in their defense. I watch all those phorensic shows, and it's always someone the people knew, or met, or who worked on their house or their car or something. It's so scary.

Lin, you want to know what's depressing? She did it that ONE day, and she hasn't done it since :( This is simply horrible. Girls are supposed to be easier, they say, but she's having a tough time with this. I know she could do it! But she doesn't know it. I will be SOOOOOO glad when she finally gets it. So glad. She keeps telling me she forgot because she was playing and didn't want to stop, but I think that's because she heard me say that. Yes, I will be glad when I don't have to deal with this at all for any of them. Maybe Rachel will be easy. I doubt I will have that kind of luck.

Kirby - I may not be much help. I like the web site almost as it is. It would be nice to get your newsletters posted to the site in a timely manner even though you send it out to all your fans/customers. I don't think I would add a schedule of where you are going and when you are going. This is just a security issue for me. I think every burglar would like to know when the homeowner is going to be out of town. I am not calling any of your loyal fans/customers burglars!! But you being a former cop know what I am talking about. I agree with the comment regarding your next book with Clint. And I recommend you play up your coauthor relationship with Clint, adding pictures of you two together but keeping personal information on both of you to a minimum. Play up your "for sale" pages. And by all means keep us posted on the growth of Cloud. Add pictures of him.

Updating

December 8 2005, 2:26 AM

Howdy again,

I guess I might as well write three in a row. I wanted you all to know I just finished a short Christmas story this evening (or last evening, rather--the 7th). I hope to get Kenny to do this one last thing and post it on the site before Christmas. Let's keep our fingers crossed and ask him real nice! Maybe some of you could chime in! :o) There's really no one else that can work that magic Kenny does, with the photos and all. And I doubt there is anyone who will care about it like he did.

But anyway, if you are all on my regular mailing list you will get to see my story, "Welcome Back Christmas, Dowdy Branson," very soon. Thanks for a great year, guys. I'll try not to be such an absentee Website owner next year.
