Howdy to all--no new book! :o(

Howdy to everyone. Like Mule, I've been checking in here a lot and thought aliens had come and abducted everyone. Good to see they let you all free, safe and sound!

For those of you who aren't familiar with computer "emoticons," or whatever it is they call them, that sign at the end of my message title is a sad face. For reasons out of my control, you won't be seeing a new Kirby Jonas novel out for this Christmas, unless of course you haven't read Disciples of the Wind or Reapers of the Wind yet. In that case, there are still two new ones for you which from all reviews I've received so far I think you will really enjoy.

I threw all of my planning into Long Arrow, the new book I was working on with Clint Walker, but due to regretful circumstances I would rather not discuss this book has been set aside. I am very distraught to have to bring you this tragic news, as the book was through the rough draft stage and needed only to be polished, have Mr. Walker's changes and corrections put in, and then it would have been ready to go to the printer. Unfortunately, this was not in the cards. Time--and other things--ran out. Far too much to explain here, but I will tell you that it is a thoroughly enjoyable and exciting book, and if you stick with me long enough some day down the road you will see it in print.

Anyway, with a big breath of fresh air and a heart full of optimism I have turned to a book I've been working on for a number of years, The Secret of Two Hawks, and a new one (not the stagecoach one) featuring my youngest son, Matthew Morgan, as a gunfighter coming to the Idaho booming gold camp (fictional) of Drygulch to clean the town and clear his name. I'm on chapter 17 of the former and chapter 9 of the latter.

I hope you are all getting plenty of moisture, but at the same time I hope the harvest turns better, Mule. I wouldn't want to see those potatoes rot, even though I already stored mine away. It would sure hurt the economy of this part of the state.

My latest physical dilemma is not whether I can make it to the end of that run to the top of the mountain, but fighting some kind of weird rash I picked up that appeared one day and has been spreading like the wildfires I used to fight. It's got one arm, a leg, one side of my neck, and my left temple, and those are just the places I can remember! Guess I'll be headed to the doctor Monday. Isn't it weird how this fun stuff always happens on a weekend?

I'm also posting birthday wishes to George and Gina. I haven't been able to get on my computer at home due to what I'm afraid is a virus, so this is the first chance I've had to be online, here at work.

Have a good one, all!

Kirby

Good luck with your other two books I'll be waiting for Long Arrow even if it takes awhile.
I hope that every thing gets worked out soon.
