Hello,
I hope all of Kirbys fans are well and the world has been treating them with kindness.

I know that the world is a very deversified place with environments different even just a hundred miles or so down the trail.

May whatever troubles have been of concern to you in the past be changed for the better in the coming year.

May your prayers be answered as needed.
Thank you for the prayers and thoughts about the possible lack of moisture here in the north west. It looks like we may actually get enough moisture this winter to refill the lakes and rivers.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Dell in Idaho .........

Winging your way with a message

December 24 2007, 1:23 PM

Dear Friends and Kirby Jonas Fans.

This was written last year but I had so much fun with it that I wanted to share with you....
Please respond Thanks DELL

Winging your way with a message 12-31-06 DELL M. MANGUM
This started out as a card with a couple of “Birds” flying across the sky. At first they looked like a couple of geese, or doves, but then not. So this is what happened.. ENJOY ……….

Well these are not Geese that mate for life,
Nor are they Doves to bring you peace to end strife.
They are not Blackbirds to be baked up in a pie,
And they are not Buzzards waiting for something to die.
I wish that they were Parrots, or at least Mina birds,
That way they could relay some very personal words.
I couldn't send a Sparrow, a Magpie, or a Jay,
They would stop to pick garbage along the way.
I don't want my words misquoted or repeated wrong for you,
So I went looking in the aviary, down at the zoo.
There were Pigeons and Ducks, Flamingos and Quails,
Pheasants and Peacocks with great irradiant tails.
Swallows and Goldfinch, Woodpeckers and more,
And of course bird poop scattered all over the floor.
Plenty of others, not to mention four Hawks and three Eagles,
Dozens of songbirds, an Osprey and lots of squawking damn Seagulls.
I thought about sending a quick Humming bird,
But I couldn't get him to repeat it, not even one word.
I saw a fuzzy Emu and an Ostrich that would eat out of my hand,
When I tried to teach him words, he stuck his head into the sand.
After I put my coat on I checked out the South Pole room,
There was an Emperor Penguin, dressed up like a groom.
I figured this has to be the one, all dressed in his elegant attire,
However he wouldn’t leave his iceberg or go anywhere near a fire.
Even the multi-colored Ki-Ki bird wouldn’t repeat words that he was told,
All he would do is sit and shiver, repeating Ki-Ki-Ki-Kirist it’s cold.
Once more back outside, I wandered through the zoo.
I tried to figure out if any other animals would do.
Even a Cheetah I decided, would be to slow to carry the word,
Time is short and the distance far, it about has to be a bird.
There on the skyline was an orange bird with a great big beak,
Scooping in air that passed clear through, to exit with a squeak.
Then I heard it getting louder, exactly what I’d been searching for!
The perfect bird to spread the word could be heard for a Mileormore.
But try as I might, I couldn’t catch one, not even with a cage.
So I guess that what you’ll get is just what’s written on this page.
I hope you enjoy my attempt at rhyming the written word,
And add to that, the silly fact that I tried to send you THE BIRD!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007 .. Dell M. Mangum 12-31-06

Yes, I received your bird poem. It must have taken ages to write. You mentioned every bird in existence!
I enjoyed it and forwarded it on to friends so they could enjoy it also. Sylvia in OZ

Actually I started on it about 11:00 AM and sent it off late afternoon ...............

Glad you enjoyed it. Let me know how your friends liked it.... I need the feedback and the pat on the back as that’s all the pay I get for working so hard. I need to write a book.
Hugs your way I hope they don't overshoot and land in that Ice-field south of you..... DELL

I opened your eCard with great anticipation;
Anxious to see what you said about 2007.
The Birds were so gracefully flying o'er head;
I read and read to see what you had said.
Your talent for writing and rhyming the word
Kept me reading and searching from bird to bird.
You said you had some very personal words to say;
But didn't want to send them by a Sparrow or a Jay.
Even the Humming bird or Ostrich didn't cooperate;
The Emperor Penguin--even dressed like a groom--was too late.
So as I continued to read through the poem,
I soon realized I was not alone.
The message was there among all those feathers,
And many would read them wherever they gathered.
Eventually I quit looking for a hidden meaning,
Knowing you were having fun and not just scheming.
"Winging My Way" was a great work and 'a keeper'
I printed it off trying not to get in deeper.
I'll read and re-read it enjoying each word;
And being all 'fowled up' I'm sending you a Chipmonk instead of 'The Bird'!
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007.
Thanks again for your 'feathery' wishes;
It was fun reading and simply 'delicious'!
Nancy
