Request IndiaCause for letter campaign to Cisco, Sun Micro etc. for anti-India HateGroups

Dahyabhai

A friend of mine has suggested the following action, because Cisco has decided to put IDRF under hold and have stopped to match donations made to IDRF, by believing the lies of anti-IDRF hate campaign by Leftists, Islamists, missionaries and Jihadis.

Please act right now for mother India and write to Cisco and Sun Micro as outlined below in the next 24 hours. If we cannot do the needful, then cannot ever criticize the current GOI for not attacking the terrorist camps after the Parliament attack. We know that anti-Indian hate groups are continuing their bigoted attack. Now is your chance to work and show that you can put your energy and not just talk and think.

The letter below is a sample letter. Please change it or delete inapplicable words to make it true for your true personal views. Below is a list of key contacts. In the next 48 hours, we need to flood them with phone, fax, email, and mail. There is pressure in numbers. We need to reveal these anti-Indian and anti-Hindu hate groups for who they are and show that most Indians do not share their bigoted ideology.

Dear Mr. Morgridge,

(I have been a direct Cisco shareholder since 1997 and have had the pleasure of being part of Cisco’s growth.

As a shareholder,) I am disturbed by the premature response to the vicious hate campaign launched by Biju Mathew, Angana Chatterjee, Shalini Gera, Girish Agrawal, Ali Mir, Elahe Heptullah, and S. Ravi Rajan, against the respectable charity IDRF (India Development and Relief Fund). These people are well known in the Indian diaspora as Marxists, ideologically aligned with communist China, sympathetic to terrorists, and anti-Semitic, anti-Hindu, anti-Jain, anti-Sikh, and anti-Buddhist.

Through their Forum of Indian Leftists (FOIL), and their affiliates EKTA, Friends of South Asia, and the Coalition Against Communalism, they have criticized India and Israel as “Nazi regimes,” have likened President Bush, India’s Prime Minister Vajpayee, and Israel’s Prime Minister Sharon as no different than Adolf Hitler, and have accused Jews and Hindus of committing pogroms against Palestinians and Muslims, respectively. They have praised Pakistani and Palestinian terrorists as freedom fighters. A web search of FOIL and the individuals above will reveal this. In addition, Professor Chatterjee has monthly India-Israel and Hindu-Jewish bashing programs in San Francisco.

That a respectable company like Cisco, once the most highly valued company in the world, should give attention to the likes of such extremists is unbelievable. I would think that Cisco would be able to discern what is a quite vibrant political discourse among Indians both in India and America from outright malicious propaganda. The report they have published should not be respected for its length. All critical examinations of it by respected and objective scholars like Professor of Communication Ramesh Rao of Truman State University in Missouri, journalist Varsha Bhosle of Rediff.com, and journalist Francois Gautier (works for LCI, France's 24-hour New TV channel and Ouest-France, France's largest circulation newspaper, and regularly writes columns in main-stream Indian newspapers), and the Hindu Vivek Kendra (Mumbai, India) reveal that facts are few, allegations are many and without proof, and lies abound.

I have contributed to IDRF’s general fund for many years. I have worked with many different organizations and many different charities. I can say that IDRF has used the money preciously donated to them by individuals and corporations such as Cisco very wisely. From my experience visiting IDRF projects in India and speaking with those who have benefited from them, I have not seen any extremism or discrimination in the aid sent to India. I have not seen any foundation in the U.S. using money better than IDRF.

The damage done to Cisco’s reputation by consideration of this inflammatory material and the hasty action in not allowing Cisco contributions to IDRF without even asking for their response, is immense. People in this country and India cannot believe that you are giving such importance to a report that few take seriously. Considering that the allegations were that IDRF supports Hindu causes, it is even more outrageous that you chose to investigate IDRF and not the many Christian or Muslim charities that Cisco likely gives money to. As a shareholder, I would like to know if there are Christian and Muslim charities that receive money from Cisco for charity work? If some activists made a 100-page report tying them to conversion activity and religious intolerance, would you act in the same way? Or is it that Cisco foundation does not have Hindu representation? Is it that Cisco feels Hindus are weak and not vociferous and that Cisco feels that it can walk over the hundreds of employees and community members that support the work of IDRF and the millions of people in India who have benefited from IDRF work? Perhaps Cisco has an institutional bias against Hindus and India.

Thank you for the corporate philanthropy you have done previously, but if your anti-Hindu and anti-Indian policies continue, you cannot count on my support.

Please review the material (especially the links) before u submit

Let us review the credibility of the authors too

December 5 2002, 9:46 AM

the credibility of the authors of the report against IDRF is in question

We need to review the credibility of the report as well

If the people are just spreading canards for their own motives without any solid proof, then we should not allow such people to succeed in discouraging service to poor and thereby reducing the number of people getting educated, number of terrorist victims being served, number of nature's disaster victims being served .....

Let us review the opinions of IDRF and its supporters as well

I hear from them that there are many selfless volunteers making the overhead less

Let us not discourage and demotivate such noble people by giving credit to the people spreading canards without any proof

The decision to stop funding to IDRF might affect the the no of poor children getting educated

Let us review the credibility of the organisers of campaign against IDRF

Let Indian children get educated
Let the victims of terrorism get some relief work
Let the victims of natural disaster get some relief work

To Latha and others

December 5 2002, 11:39 AM

1) IDRF overhead is ZERO

2) Many things in the above write up about the authors is true. But what I meant is, try to avoid factual errors and do not overdo things. That will nullify this effort. Try to double check things

3)The resources page has nice articles which can be used , but double check the links etc before you do anything like writing to companies

4) Make sure you include points like how the leftists are pained with IDRF funding Sep 11 etc. You can also show the pages in FOIL website where they oppose US policies, support Islamists etc

See http://www.geocities.com/exposingtheaxisofevil

John Morgride,
Chairman of the Board
Cisco Systems, Inc.

Dear Mr. Morgridge,

As a user of Cisco Systems products I am disturbed by the premature response to the vicious hate campaign launched by Biju Mathew, Angana Chatterjee and their cohorts against the India Development and Relief Fund (IDRF). These people are well known Marxists, who show sympathy to terrorists, and who hold anti-Semitic, anti-Hindu, anti-Jain, anti-Sikh, and anti-Buddhist views. For your reference I am attaching herewith a list of online references to the authors of this report and their affiliates that clearly indicates their political views and motivations.

A web search of FOIL and the individuals above will reveal this (FOIL: www.proxsa.org/resources/foil/foilpg.html) . In addition, Professor Chatterjee has monthly India-Israel and Hindu-Jewish bashing programs in San Francisco.

The FOIL website clearly indicates that they are grouping together to "combat the IMF/World Bank/MNC onslaught against the Indian workers and peasants, opposing the saffron wave across India, England and North America, and preventing conservative middle class politics from shaping the politics of the entire community." Their FOIL website goes on to say "Our bourgeois 'leaders' and their friends in Washington [sic] need to get a wake-up call which blows their eardrums: … Let FOIL be that noise! "

Clearly these politically motivated self-styled leftists seek to influence the corporate giving policies of major US corporations. That a respectable company like Cisco Systems should give attention to the likes of such extremists is unbelievable and a discredit to your company. I would think that Cisco would be able to discern what is a quite vibrant political discourse among Indians both in India and America from outright malicious propaganda. The report they have published should not be respected for its length.

Please note that more than 3400 people have already signed the ongoing petition in favor of IDRF per http://www.letindiadevelop.org/

By suspending Cisco System's contributions to IDRF without even asking for their response, you have fallen prey to the tactics of these leftists charlatans who have openly declared a campaign against Hinduism. I have read the report published by this group, and I found it to be grossly inaccurate and full of unsubstantiated accusations and outright lies. They have maligned IDRF by associating it with other organizations in India and then maligning these organizations. While I cannot give a point-by-point rebuttal of their report in this short letter, I urge you to engage the organizations that are mentioned in their report to find out the truth regarding their aims and objectives and the social work that they conduct.

Having worked with many different organizations and many different charities, I choose to support IDRF because to the vital aid they provide to the remotest parts of India. I have personally visited some of the projects supported by IDRF during my trips to India. In my experience speaking with those who have received aid through IDRF, I have never seen any extremism or discrimination in the aid sent to India.

If your support for IDRF is suspended because of IDRF's alleged support for Hindu causes, I demand that you also suspend all corporate support for any charities that have any connections whatsoever with other religious groups.

As a Hindu and a second generation Indian, I thank you for the philanthropy that Cisco Systems has demonstrated in the past by giving to IDRF. I urge you to find out the true story before making a final decision on this issue. If Cisco Systems decides to be influenced by the biased views of leftist and Marxist radicals, I cannot support your company through use of Cisco products.

Sincerely,
