Bindis are dots traditionally worn by women in India to decorate their faces.Here's significance of it.
The area between the eyebrows is the seat of latent wisdom. This area is known as the "Agna" (6th chakra) meaning "command". It is said to control various levels of concentration attained through meditation. The central point of this area is the "Bindu" wherein all experience is gathered in total concentration. Tantric tradition has it that during meditation, the "kundalini" - the latent energy that lies at the base of the spine is awakened and rises to the point of sahasrara (7th chakra) situated in the head or brain. The central point, the bindhu, becomes therefore a possible outlet for this potent energy. The kumkum lies between the eyebrows is said to retain energy in the human body and control various levels of concentration. It is also the central point of the base of the creation itself symbolising auspiciousness and good fortune.
It also provides warmth to the pineal and pituitary glands located near the Thalamus.
The bindi is declared to be very helpful for the good health of the brain, eyes, ears and the nose because these applications maintain a fine pull on the veins and nerves underneath the forehead, nose-root and forearm’s skin to monitor proper flow of blood. The forebrain controls the decision making part of the brain. In acupressure methods it is considered to be the most sensitive part of the body responsible for alertness .
unfortunately it has become a fashion for our hindu women to ignore bindi.
