It is very disgraceful that we Indians are regarded as second class citizens everywhere including in India.Every Indian living in the United Kingdom, would have had faced some overt rascist remarks/denegeration or quite often mild physical violence becouse of their colour.Rest of the Europe is no better.Though the USA is regarded as one of the fair countries,a lot of people have had some bad experience in that country too.By far the oil rich Gulf Sheikhs are the worst rascists.An Indian working alongside an arab in the Gulf draws a much lower pay then the local though they they enjoy the same rank & do the same work.A white man working in a similar position will probably earn the same as an Arab.Any Indian daring to wear the traditional Arab dress will be prosecuted and severely punished as per the law.Yet interestingly we havent heard of anyone calling the Arabs rascist.
Though the incidences of overt rascism does not occur very often Indians in particular & Asians at large are generally regarded as second class citizens by most of the native European population.Caucasians & whites seldom make friends with their Indian colleagues & co workers though they do socialise very well with the Indians.We ourselves are partly to be blamed.We discriminate amongst ourselves on basis of caste, religion, cultural sects & various sub sects.There are also more equals amongst us who are favoured for all the prized university seats & jobs in India under the banner of reservation.Not only do we continue to practise this discrimination unabashedly in India , we carry it along to the distant shores aswell.It is very natural under such circumstances to tolerate any humiliation heaped on us by what we consider to be a superior race(whites).We Indians to a large extent justify subtle rascism & double standards as our former colonial rulers have got the sense of subordination ingrained in us.Long after the colonial cord is severed , it is still the same blood that circulates.
It is very shameful that we practise & suffer discimination on various grounds.It is high time we reiterate our dignity & self respect & command respect from the rest of the world.But charity has to begin at home.
