The Lord's Supper on the First Day of the Week

September 11 2004 at 12:03 PM

from IP address 209.215.12.113

A common practice for believers is the partaking of the Lord's Supper on the first day of the week. As members of the Church of Christ we follow the example the Jesus Christ and the apostles set forth. We also allow those in the congregation, that for whatever reason they were not able to attend the morning gathering, to partake in the evening service.
My question is this: Should we allow the Lord's Supper after sundown on Sunday. Genesis 1:5 " And the evening and the morning were the first day." This is obvious how God divided the days. When does the first day begin? If it begins at Saturday evening then it ends 24 or so hours later. If the evening is come on Sunday pm service it thus makes it Monday, the second day of the week. I realize that some will say that it is now our customs to change the beginning of the days but where did God change the start and ending of his days?

I post this question because I am curious not because I want to get into a debate. If you can confirm or otherwise feel free to respond. Preferably with the Bible and history as prooftext. When did it Change?

Thanks for the comments.

First day:

September 14 2004, 6:26 PM

This is a important question if we are going to "keep time." I have read some Sabbath keeper's sites where they believe that our sabbath is an even multiples of the day God RESTED. I believe that the Jews still regulate some festivals by the phase of the moon or some other natural time keeper.

'A question developed, however, about when to mark the beginning of this time-keeping unit ["a day"]. Two points seemed to make the most sense: sunrise or sunset. Hebrew culture chose to designate sunset as the beginning of a day.

As a result, their sabbaths and holy days began at sunset on the evening before the daytime of the festival.

This tradition [Hebrew] carried over into Christian traditions and gave rise to the celebrations of "eves" such as Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and Halloween (All Hallow's Eve). Other groups chose sunrise as the beginning of the day.'

That means that our morning service would be on the first day but if the evening service is after sunset then people would be eating the Lord's Supper on MONDAY or the second day.

When Paul met with the people at Troas he DIALOGED but did not preach as in a sermon until midnight. However, the idea was that he would depart on the morrow. "Morrow" or the first day was not a day of rest until Constantine. Paul would not upset any of the Jews by beginning his journey early Sunday morning. Therefore, this important text seems to have them meeting on the Lord's Day but on our Saturday night.

However, both the Sabbath and Sunday carried the notion of REST and not a day of "worship" in the sense that we feel the need to "wear out the saints." REST on the Sabbath permitted them to gather in small communities to have a "holy convocation" which meant to READ or REHEARSE whatever they had in the way of written or oral instructions about the Law.

My view is that this is something that you do to show forth or preach or teach the Death of Christ and all this means to us. If I could not make it for Sunday morning I never felt the need to do it on Sunday evening to fulfil a legal duty. Others have differing opinions and I think this is why most churches serve communion at both times.

Anyway,Sabbath meant REST before it meant the SEVEN of the SABBATH. I say "more rest" which Jesus died to give us where rest meanst of just about anything you are doing: Just stop it. I am sure that others have different views.

Re: The Lord's Supper on the First Day of the Week

September 15 2004, 8:56 AM

Wil

You've asked an interesting question, which has more than one related event tied to it. Concerning the Lord's Supper, we see in Acts 20:7-11 that Paul and his company gathered with the saints in Troas "on the first day of the week"... "to break bread". This breaking of bread was what we call the Lord's Supper. Paul spoke/preached until midnight and was planning to leave the next day (Monday). After the incident with Eutychus, Paul and the others went back inside to eat a common meal before he left. The phrase "breaking of bread" in verse 7 is different in the Greek from the one in verse 11.

Although you didn't refer to this, let me throw another one out for consideration. What day of the week was Christ crucified? Before I explain my position, we must know that it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. What we do KNOW is that Christ rose before dawn on what we call Sunday, the first day of the week... which is where we have our significance in taking the Lord's Supper on that day. We also KNOW what Jesus said in Matthew 12:38-40, that He would be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. While it is important to understand that the Jews "day" began at sunset, Jesus specifically says days and nights. In order for His words to be accurate, Jesus could not have been crucified on Friday as religious tradition holds but on a Thursday instead. The argument against this is that the day after the crucifixion was a Sabbath. I say, true, but what is a Sabbath except a "Holy Day"? Every "Saturday" was a Sabbath but not every Sabbath was a "Saturday". The feast days were also Sabbaths and we KNOW that Jesus came to Jerusalem and was planning to partake of the Passover. My belief is that the "Friday" following His crucifixion was the Passover and that Jesus ate the Passover meal with His disciples early, on "Wednesday" night. Also, the gospel according to John refers to this Sabbath as a "High Day", which signifies a "special" Sabbath Day. Ancient Hebrew calendars confirm that there were 3 occasions between AD 30 and 35 when the Passover took place on Fridays.

I hope that this is beneficial.

First Day

September 15 2004, 11:48 AM

Good thoughts. I have read several attempt to count the days which followed the pattern of selecting the lamb etc for the Passover. It has to be a fact that the SABBATH here was a special Sabbath and not Saturday. [Sabbath meaning REST and not SATURDAY]

Here is an account which I have begun to "parse" into thought patterns for my own edification. This supports the Thursday account:

http://www.askelm.com/news/n010501.htm

This is important because of fulfilling the type of the Passover and because "ONE HOUR EQUALS ONE DAY" so you can get three days and three nights does little for my faith.

Does this upset the Saturday night Lord's Supper for us?

Which day?

September 20 2004, 9:02 PM

Brother Mark:
Your question and explanation of Christ’s crucifixion shows that you are a deep fisherman of the truth, but you need to check your math. Jesus died about the 9th hour (Matt 27:46), which would start the count at sunset Wednesday night. Jesus ate the Last Supper, Tuesday night. The Passover meal was on Wednesday night: All the Passover lamb were scarficed at the Temple except one, He was scarficed outside the walls of Jerusalem, on Calvary.
Speaking of counting. Have you counted the days from Christ entering Jerusalem and His crucifixion? I count 4, which means He fulfilled the 4 days of examining the Passover Lamb of Exodus 12:3-6.
Jesus also arose on the first day of the week, which was the Eighth day, and the number 8 means new beginning.
When you look deep it is amazing how all thing fit together isn’t it? And how all things mean something.

Night of day one Lord's Passover Supper memorial

September 29 2010, 11:42 PM

The devil and the pagans are the only ones who have a Sunday morning "Lord's supper" at the hour Jesus identifies as his hour for breakfast (see the Greek word artiston John 21:12). A multitude of deceived Christians have followed the Catholic Church into their wicked and evil change of Gods Bible time and time God has set to worship. The God of the Bible has no day named the first day of the week (of the seven sky gods). The week is an artificial time measure made by the pagans. The God of the Bible warns you through the prophet Daniel (9:27) that wicked and evil Ruler (Constantine) and Bible translators would deceive a world of people about time that God has set to worship.

Exactly what hour of "night of day one"?

September 30 2010, 11:51 PM

So, based on Mr. Wade's non-pagan, perfect formula for calculating time, God and His followers are the ones who have a __[day and time]___ as the hour for ____"artiston"_____.

It also means, according to Mr. Wade, that "the first day of the week" was erroneously stated in Scripture because the first century man did not know about "the first day of the week" when the New Testament books were written in the first century.

If Mr. Wade is suggesting that at "night of day one Lord's Passover Supper memorial" is to be observed, e.g., Saturday evening [at what "hour," Wade?], then he is also using the pagan's calendar and "artificial time measure."

Mr. Wade, what exactly is that time [hour] of "night of day one"?

So, since the daylight savings time is pagan or man-made, would you also or would you not make the adjustment to that "hour" accordingly?

Should "other true followers of God" throughout the world, considering the varying pagan time zones, conform to your correctly and divinely calculated hour and uniformly have that "Lord's Passover Supper memorial?

God and His Bible Time

October 2 2010, 3:15 AM

Thank you "Donnie Cruz" for your reply
Be careful what you apply to the God comparing to what belongs to Satan. The God said I form the light I made the dark (Apostolic Bible literal translation Isa. 45:7 The evening or the first whole dark period or the beginning of dark was created before the light on day One (Gen. 1:1-3). Only in the last fifty years Bible time is now being restored all over the world as was prophesied by Daniel 7:25-28. When Bible time and laws of God are completely restored (to the Bible record) then according to Daniel the whole world will be convinced to begin to serve and worship God.
The God of the Bible used a different measure of natural observed Bible time to create an awesome power in the gospel record. Over thousands of years (some say millions of years) God created the seven day solar cycle, the time witness of the moon and the time witness of the harvest of a specific grain of the common variety of wheat to prove to the Bible student that the Bible is God breathed. Wicked and evil Bible translators remove the correct measure of Bible time and then they add their artificial measure as their Bible time to make the Bible record appear to be written by pagans who love their week days of the seven sky gods. How about you-do you just love the week days of the seven sky gods as your Bible day? Anyone who knows anything about how the pagans create the time measure of the artificial days of the week of the seven sky gods know the artificial week days are designed to give glory and honor to the seven pagan gods of the sky. Atheist and Bible agnostics use the week days and months that are mistranslated in the Bible to try and prove the Bible is nothing more than pagan superstition. It is a fact anyone of any intellect would declare the Bible to be nothing more that pure pagan superstition if the God of the Bible actually did use the artificial time of the seven sky gods to describe His Bible time and set times to worship. In removing true Bible time most Bible translators (but not all) remove and scramble the plan of God when He used Bible time to prove to you that the Bible is God breathed. Removing true Bible time has scrambled the exact resurrection moment of Jesus. The true resurrection moment of Jesus parallels the exact same moment when God created the universe (early dark or evening see the Greek words "proi skotoas" "early dark" or at beginning of dark on day one of the Sabbaton John 20:1). The same Greek words opse evening and epiphosko lamp lighting that were used to describe the moment of the entombment of Jesus is at the supper hour of God (Mat 27:57: Luke 23:54) and the same Greek words Opse or evening and epiphosko or "lamp lighting" is used by Matthew to describe the moment the women came to the tomb of Jesus to discover that Jesus had resurrected in a mega earthquake at
1. the supper hour of God
2. early yet it was dark
3. on the Bible Greek day Mia or day one of the Sabbaton (Mat 28:1-3).
The Bible record declares that all Christians are justified, made holy or they are Passed over by God through the true resurrection moment of Jesus at the true supper hour of God (see Rom. 4:25; 6:3-7; 1Pet 1:3; 3:21) . The Lords Passover supper was observed by New Testament Christians at or near the resurrection moment of Jesus at or near early dark on day one of the Sabbaton (parallels early dark of our modern Saturday night see Greek of Acts 20:7) The Bible Greek day Mia (day one) of the Sabbaton is measured first with only one whole dark period and the whole dark period is followed with only one whole light period. Sunday is measured with two half dark periods of two parts of two nights of two days of God. In Troas Paul preached until midnight of day one of the Sabbaton that started at sunset-early dark.
Donnie I pray these facts about true Bible time will get you and others interested in making a life time study about true Bible time and the times that our God has set to worship. God bless you all in your search for truth

Sabbath means REST: never WORSHIP. This is a human relations law.

October 9 2010, 4:29 PM

The design of the SABBATH meaning REST applies only to Earng and Harvest time.
First, you WILL work 6 days because the master demands it.
Then, not for worship but for REST, the master must give you a day to REST.
If you worked on the farm you are not fit for anything but REST.
This was a Labor Relation Law and not a spiritul law.

Ex. 34:21 Six days thou shalt work,
......but on the seventh day thou shalt rest:
......in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

Next, the feasts were for muster: only men of the warrior age. This was age 30 but David reduced it to 20

Ex. 34:22 And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks,
......of the firstfruits of wheat harvest,
......and the feast of ingathering at the years end.
Ex. 34:23 Thrice in the year
......shall all your men children appear before the Lord GOD, the God of Israel.

These were not weekly WORSHIP but MUSTERS of the warrior-aged males.

Here is how the 3 yearly festivals went:

Lev. 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them,
......Concerning the feasts of the LORD,
......which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

Lev. 23:3 Six days shall work be done:
......but the seventh day is the sabbath of REST, an holy convocation;
......ye shall do no work therein:
......it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. (where they sat, slept)

The people in a local area (ten mature males in later times) to rest, read and rehearse the word.
After Constantine gave another rest day, Christians held Bible study to keep people away from the pagan Sun worship.

Lev. 23:4 These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations,
......which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
Lev. 23:5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORDs passover.
Lev. 23:6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month
......is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD:
...... seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
Lev. 23:7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
Lev. 23:8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days:
......in the seventh day is an holy convocation:
......ye shall do no servile work therein. \
This COMMAND was to REST during Earing and Harvest time AFTER you had slaved six days.
The festivals were "musters" and times when the Word of God was READ.
The Israelites came to hold synagogue on each REST day which was not connected to the calendar. The Levi tribe would be carrying on the national sacrificial system as the worship of the starry host to which God abandoned them BECAUSE of eating, singing, dancing, playing instruments etc which PROFAND the Sabbath.
This quarantined the people FROM all of the worship services as hard bondage
This is the iNCLUSIVE and EXCLUSIVE role of the Qahal, synagogue or church in the wildernss.

Miqra (h4744) mik-raw'; from 7121; something called out, i. e. a public meeting (the act, the persons, or the place); also a rehearsal: - assembly, calling, convocation, reading.

So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly,
......and gave the sense,
......and caused them to understand the reading. Ne.8:8

Jesus stood up to READ the assigned text and then had the decency to sit down and allow discussions or questions.
That's the eternal role of the synagogue and what Paul commanded Timothy to do each first day of the week which would not interfere with the Sabbath day worship which, including the Jews, was the worship of the starry host. This would prevent violence to the Christians who assembled on the FIRST WORK day of the week and then went to their jobs.

WORK is defined to exclude "sending out ministers of God." Rest was FROM Work and NOT for someone to impose some ceremonial legalism. In time, the Israelites met each Sabbath to listen to the reading of the Word of God (only). Isaiah 55 outlaws selling the "free water of the Word" and Isaiah 58 outlaws "speaking your own words."

Sabbath means rest:

February 11 2011, 1:17 AM

Only if you make a complete study of true Bible time will you discover what an awesome God has created the Bible records of time, laws concerning time and the set times to worship. Wicked Bible translators have removed the original records of natural Bible time and they add the artificial time measure of the days of the weeks and the months to the Bible records. Got to have clocks for artificial time. Y'ahsus (mistranslated Jesus) instituted his passover memorial for the kingdom of God (Luke 22:14-16) on what we identify as Tuesday night. He was killed on Wednesday or the fourth day of the sabbaton. He was entombed at the Greek Opse "evening" -see Mat.27:57; and at epiphosko orlamp lighting see Greek Luke 23:54). Matthew said Jesus was resurrected at the same time of entombment Greek opse evening and epiphosko lamp lighting on day Mia or "day one" of the Sabbaton (early dark of our modern Saturday night. The resurrection record of Mark does not say Jesus resurrected in the morning at after the sun has risen. He wrote that the tomb was empty. Again Mark 16:1 should not be added to the sixteenth chapter but should be at the end of the fifteenth chapter. The translators add the women buying spices after the Passover Sabbath to this resurrection record instead of two days before, to try and make you think that Jesus is resurrecting at the rising of the sun god on sunday morning.

In the love of God, the truth and the brotherhood,

The supper hour of God

February 11 2011, 2:40 AM

Donnie Cruz wrote It also means, according to Mr. Wade, that "the first day of the week" was erroneously stated in Scripture because the first century man did not know about "the first day of the week" when the New Testament books were written in the first century.

If Mr. Cruz had made a research into the Old and New Testament Bible dictionary he would have discover the Bible hour is a look at time and not the artificial sixty minute hour. Sorry you would have a good point only if it were true. Take serious notice of the Greek word see Strongs Greek word number 5610 wra -hora ho'-rah or hour for the true worship that has now come. Jesus spoke to identify a certain natural look at time and not an artificial time of the pagan week of the seven sky gods.

See Strongs New Testament Greek word number 5610 apparently a primary word; see Theological Dictionary of New Testament words -9:675,1355; n f translated in the authorized versions (AV) translated-hour 89 times, time 11 times, season 3 times, misc 5 times, altogether translated; 108 times in the New Testament.

Nothing wrong with measuring natural Bible time with artificial time just do not add it to the Bible as a Bible day of God as do the wicked translators.

Again Donnie wrote: Should "other true followers of God" throughout the world, considering the varying pagan time zones, conform to your correctly and divinely calculated hour and uniformly have that "Lord's Passover Supper memorial?

Donnie I think you should be asking God for that answer? You forget God has natural observed time that start wit early dark of the evening and not time zones. But first take a serious warning from God through his prophet Daniel 7:25 about a wicked ruler who will think he can change Bible time and the set times of God to worship. Then if you are a saint in the everlasting kingdom but deceived by this wicked ruler, God says he will give you over to the hand of -his false teaching. So are you deceived about Bible time or the set times of God to worship?

Re: The supper hour of God

February 12 2011, 7:42 AM

Since Jesus was a Jew by earthly heritage, He was required to keep the rites and rituals of the Mosaic Law and follow the Hebrew calendar, which assigned days for worship and feast celebrations. The Mosaic Law and all its religious rituals were nailed to the cross of Jesus (Col. 2:14). Therefore, the Hebrew calendar became obsolete, and all the Jewish religious rituals became obsolete. The advent of the Christian era arrived on Pentecost, and everything changed. The Julian calendar, which was in place at the time, was eventually replaced by the Gregorian calendar. Yet the Jews still attempt to follow the Hebrew calendar for "religious" purposes. Do you really believe that the Hebrew calendar today is exactly the same as it was in the first century?

Jewish Bible time and the supper hour of God

October 15 2012, 11:21 PM

Sorry I did not get back sooner.
The Jews did not create or set Bible time or set the times to worship for their God.

Today the so called Christian world is so fill with pagan practices, Finding a sound true Christian organization is as hard to find as the ancient dinosaur. Many are called few are chosen.
.

The Jews did not create Bible time to live by, it was God who establish Bible time and the set times and how to measure God's solar day from early dark of the evening. God set the supper hour to worship in both the New and the Old Testaments.

The Catholic church has set artificial time for most modern deceived so called Christians.

The Christ is correctly recorded to have resurrected at early yet it was dark on the night of day one of the Sabbaton (early yet it was dark of Saturday night a true translation of John 20:1).
.
The Catholic Church changed the resurrection day from early the first of the Sabbaton (Mark 16:9) to the rising of the day of the sun god for Catholics and for the deceived to gather and worship on the day of the sun god.

God, the Christ Established his Ekklesia which Ekklesia is nothing like a church. God did not establish anything that resembles a Church.

The Catholic Church is telling you the truth beware and listen to them; the Catholic Church is the first church ever to exist on earth. All who call themselves churches are simply the daughters of the Catholic Church (including the Church of Satan in San Francisco and the gay and lesbian Church).

God does not have a church. Read who started your church? At this website www.biblementor.com

Know for certain what you are doing and do not be deceived. God Is too awesome to displease, heaven it to wonderful to loose, hell is simply too horrifying to take chances.

Re: Jewish Bible time and the supper hour of God

October 16 2012, 12:53 PM

The Christ is correctly recorded to have resurrected at early yet it was dark on the night of day one of the Sabbaton (early yet it was dark of Saturday night a true translation of John 20:1).

The Catholics changed the REST day to Sunday because of the corruption of the Jews and Romans on the Seventh Day. The Jews had never WORSHIPPED on the SABBATH: the RESTED and the authority was to work 6 days (whenever they were forced to begin seed time and harvest) and God ordained that they must be given ONE day to REST. The School of Christ and the Lord's Supper had ALWAYS been on the first day of the week otherwise the Jews could not attend the ekklesia.

Jn 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

The word YET means that the darkness was continuing from the seventh day.

The first assembly (synagogue) was on the EVENING and it was still the FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK. Therefore, Jesus was resurrected on the FIRST day of the week which must have begun after midnight.

Jn 20:19 Then the same day at evening,
.....being the first day of the week
, when the doors were shut
.....where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews,
.....came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
Jn 20:20 And when he had so said, he showed unto them his hands and his side.
.....Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
Jn 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you:

Then at the next appointed hour after the doors were shut

John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

Constantine gave the Christians ANOTHER rest day on the first day of the Week. It was to PREVENT Christians from attending the SEVENTH DAY Sabbath which was profaned by the Romans and Jews.

Christ had warned about the perverted assemblies of the Jews in Ezekiel 8. Paul warned NOT to allow the doubtful disputations of antics of the Jews and Romans in Romans 14.

I am a little confused by this posting. Among other things, I believe that "yet" means that the darkness was continuing from the evening of the first day, doesn't it. They were Jews reckoning from sundown. The sun had not yet arisen on the first day, but the first day as a calendar day, not as daylight, had begun.

There are some interesting points, though. I had never wondered about what the Jews did on the Sabbath day before.

Re: Re.

October 26 2012, 6:34 PM

You are correct: There was plenty of time for the resurrection any way you figure the Sabbath. Most of recorded history has had little trouble with that several centuries before the church warned people not to mingle with the masses on the seventh day.

Matt. 28:1-2: Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.

As far as the Jewish reckoning, the First Day of the week could have begun 12 hours before the women came to the tomb.

Nehemiah 13:19 And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day

The gates were shut on the fifth day (our Friday) and Nehemiah said that it was "when it began to be dark."

The women came to the tomb as it "began to be light" or the dawn part of the first day.

John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early,
when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre,
and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

Time could be reckoned from midnight until midnight and Jesus could have been resurrected on the first day of the week. Justin Martyr understood the following:

http://www.piney.com/FathJustinMFirstApology.html

But Sunday is the day on which we all hold our common assembly, because it is the first day on which God, having wrought a change in the darkness and matter, made the world; and Jesus Christ our Saviour on the same day rose from the dead.

For He was crucified on the day before that of Saturn (Saturday); and on the day after that of Saturn (Chaldee 666), which is the day of the Sun, having appeared to His apostles and disciples, He taught them these things, which we have submitted to you also for your consideration.

It is probably that Jesus was crucified on the day before the High Sabbath and not on the Seventh day: that allows for three full days and nights in the tomb.

It was common where possible to observe the Sabbath meaning to REST and not do worship services or "hard bondage." Early Christians were warned away from the Roman and Jewish Sabbath which was a day of debauchery.

http://www.piney.com/FathJustinDiaTrypho.html

The command of circumcision, again, bidding [them] always circumcise the children on the eighth day, was a type of the true circumcision, by which we are circumcised from deceit and iniquity

through Him who rose from the dead on the first day after the Sabbath, [namely through] our Lord Jesus Christ. For the first day after the Sabbath, remaining the first of all the days, is called, however, the eighth, according to the number of all the days of the cycle, and [yet] remains the first.

It really doesn't help the SABBATH Worshipers who think that they are still under the law "imposed because of transgression." The godly Jews never attended "worship services" to do what the SDA do: in fact REST from WORK even prevented "sending out ministers of God." They attended Qahal, Synagogue or Church in the wilderness to READ and REHEARSE the Word of God. God doesn't call people out to perform rituals but REST means REST as in "cool it."

Christians attend Ekklesia or Synagogue or School (only) of Christ (only) and giving heed or attendance to the Word of Christ in the prophets and apostles while we COME OUT of the multitudes to accept the invitation to Come Learn of Me.

If Will believes the Bible translators are "wicked" because they allegedly screwed up translating "Bible time," he'd better think twice before following anything in the Bible, because it might be "wrong." Or maybe Will thinks that only "Bible time" was translated incorrectly and everything else was translated correctly.

Will seems to be telling us that if people selectively decide not to believe this or that in the Bible, it's because the "wicked" translators botched the translation. On a similar note, in the comments about Acts 2:38, one Baptist-oriented study Bible actually questioned the text wording about being baptized FOR the remission of sins in Acts 2:38. The commentators stated that's not what Paul meant (translation: that's not what the commentators wanted Paul to say). The commentators went on to imply that Paul meant to say remission of sins came first, followed by baptism as a symbol of remission. Such comments implied that the translation was incorrect or, most likely, that the translation was correct but the commentators didn't buy Paul's teaching at all and decided to "rewrite" it to suit the false theology of the Baptists.

The meaning of SABBATH?

February 14 2011, 6:33 PM

Sabbath means REST: There is no command to worship on the seventh day. Rest means Rest as in "come to me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you REST."

A laded burden is a song in Hebrew and Greek: a Song that has lots of repeating words which includes Aeido. It means "creating spiritual anxiety through religious rituals." That's why the synagogue held on the REST days restricted work and travel and the qahal, synagogue was held on those days.

On the same days the Levi tribe was profaning the REST day with slaughtering innocent animals and making lots of vocal and instrumental noises. That is why the godly people were quarantined from the sacrificial system which God never commanded.

Christ spoke through the prophets to repudiate the SERVICE word which means "hard bondage".

You would be absolutely impossible to keep the Sabbath and do "church services" including travel. Jesus was resurrected on the first day of the week and Jesus assembled (synagogued) with the believers in the evening of the first day of the week.

The Godly Jews did now "worship" on the REST DAY.

September 30 2012, 5:46 PM

IF you worked during seed time and harvest 6 days a week you probably were a servant, slave or day worker, THEN you could REST on the SEVENTH Day. This was not related to "the worship of the starry host."

After God abandoned the Jacob-cursed tribe of Levi and later gave them a hing in His anger, only the tribe of Levi carried out the Sabbath WORSHIP involving sacrifices, burnt offerings and loud noise called EXORCISM since the Levites were called Soothsayers.

When they were settled in the land the godly people RESTED on the Sabbath day while the Levi tribe were "profaning the Sabbath" because that is what they had been abandoned to do.

The Godly people didn't attend "worship services" but Qahal, Synagogue or Church of Christ in the Wilderness. "Work" would outlaw even "sending out ministers of God."

The church attends BIBLE STUDY on the first day of the week and if you can you might KEEP THE SABBATH DAY HOLY by absolutely refusing to attend any of the "worship services" as the pattern of the curse tribe of Levi.

Question

November 17 2012, 11:37 AM

My name is Robert.

I am not presently a member of the Church of Christ and have been considering attending. My question is simple, and I ask it from a position of love, not animosity of any sort, so please consider that along with the question itself. Do those who post here live under the old covenant, or the new covenant? I ask this question because the things I have been reading here seem to indicate a desire to please God by lawful means. I am not affiliated with any church, and have no hidden agenda. Thank you for considering my question.

Re: Question

November 17 2012, 9:10 PM

The Jews were "turned over to worship the starry host because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai (Exodus 32, Acts 7)

The Godly people attended the Synagogue or Church in the wilderness. Because it was ordained by Christ (the Rock) it was a church of Christ. The Covenant was that made between God in Christ to Abraham.

The synagogue assembled each REST day and this quarantined them from the Jewish system at the Temple.

They were command to Rest, Read and Rehearse the Word.
They were forbidden to make vocal or instrumental rejoicing noises because this was a Bible School. The Church of Christ has always considered its role to Teach the Word as it has been taught.

The Church given more power when Jesus destroyed the sacrificial system has just two commanded elements.

First, it is to "teach that which is written for our learning."

Second, the Lord's Supper is not a magical event but is to PREACH or show forth the Work of Jesus. It is also a teaching activity.

Churches may do other things when it gets all people together but these are the essentials.

When a Disciple of Christ learns and obeys what Christ commanded to be taught they are not obeying a law of Moses or a law of their own righteousness.

Only the Prophets spoke for the godly people and Christ prophesied the nature of the future REST day both inclusively and exclusively. The church is built upon or educated by the Prophets and Apostles who were taught by Jesus as he fulfilled or made the prophets more certain.

It is only when people try to impose what was punishment under the Law such as the Levites who made noise during the slaughter of animals (which God had not ccmmanded), do Churches of Christ resist them as they try to IMPOSE the Law practices into the "School of the Word."

It is not legalistic to insist that there is no commandment or hint to give them the authority to sow discord in the church. However, to say that you need authority to impose instruments when all of scholarship understood why you don't make loud noise when you go to Bible Class, is used by those who IMPOSE to say that you are just being legalistic.

Because they are not based on the Bible they will say that they can decide what to do and call it worship and YOU (the owner) have no right to make a law saying they cannot in fact make a law based on their own feelings.

It is not evil to say that people who do NOT teach what Christ taught in the prophets and Apostles are not Christians. A person who refuses to obey the laws of gravity are NOT scientists.

...........................THE BOOK

What Happened At the Madison Church of Christ?

There are thousands of churches being taken over across America.

This book is only about one of those churches. It's about the Madison Church Of Christ. By studying the methods used here along with the resource references you might be able to inoculate your church. At the very least you will recognize the signs early on.

Many of the current members of the Madison Church of Christ still don't know what happened.
Some never will know! This book is for them as well.

Madison Church of Christ was a 60 year old church. At one time it was one of the largest churches in the US, and the largest Church of Christ.

It thrived for many years on the vision of it's elders and those of it's ministers. Those visions undoubtably came from the the inspired word of Jesus Christ.

At sometime in the last 10 years there was a deliberate plan by a majority of the elders to take the Madison Church of Christ into a more worldly realm.

They used secrecy, covert planning, and outside sources to scheme and to change the format and direction of the Madison Church of Christ.

The Elders knew that the membership would never approve such a plan. Using the tools of the "Community Church Movement"(consultants, books, seminars, meetings, planters, seeders) they slowly started initiating change so it was never noticed by the members until it was too late.....

At the heart of the plan was the fact that old members were going to be driven off so new techniques could be used to go out and reach the unchurched through new "Contemporary Holy Entertainment" methods developed by the "Community Church Movement"

Old members had to be kept on board long enough to get their plans ready, or the funds would not be there to pay for the new building. So by the plans very nature, it had to be secret.

The church had no plan in effect to renew or approve elders. There was never any need. The elders had always been "as approved by God". 10 of the last 15 elders would begin to shed some doubt on that.

The Elders did not even need a majority at first, because some of the elders went along unwittingly.

This edition starts shortly after some of the members begin to smell something strange in January 2001. Later editions may go back and fill in some of the timeline.

To even start to understand whats happening here, you must read the background materials in the first of the book.

This is only the first edition, and not the end. New editions will be printed as needed. To keep abreast of current changes, please visit our web site; http://www.concernedmembers.com/madison

Here is the list of players;

5 Godly Elders
10 Not so Godly Elders
120 "Deacons" (allegiance unknown)
2,800 - 4,000 church "members"
2 "teners" (people who have publicly confessed to have broken all ten commandments)
Unknown number of "sinners" (This is what the 10 elders call us.)
Unknown number of "demons" (Flying everywhere, to many to count)
