I realize I found this thread a little after the original post in October 2002, but I would like to make some observations about that first post.

"Change agents have hit Bammel Church of Christ in Houston, Tx. This has been going on for the past 20 + years."

If it's taking them over 20 years, they're not doing a very good job as change agents.

"I used to attend there but no longer because of this."

God bless you. I wish more would learn from your example. Once you reach the stage where it is obvious that the congregation is not going to turn back in your direction, there is no point in staying and being miserable (assuming you have another congregation available). If you were new to a town with 3 congregations, and 2 of them had practices you felt uncomfortable with; which one would you attend?

      "They have a praise team."

Praise team is now a meaningless buzzword. If you are talking about an all male praise team, there is no less authority for that in scripture than for a single songleader. If you are talking about a male/female praise team, then the true issue is the women's role and has NOTHING TO DO WITH MUSIC. People have argued this point from the wrong angle for too long. Many who could care less if you have 1 songleader or 10 would still respect the women's role argument, if someone would make it.

"...and the men are having some kind of Power Breakfasts and they hold a mens prayer time in "a COMMUNITY room"

Men eating and praying together? Scandalous!

"They have their "connection groups" meeting in homes on sunday night and throughout the week."

Christians meeting together in homes? Where could they have come up with a crazy idea like that? Are you familiar with the 1st century church? Apparently these change agents have taken 2000 years to get their agenda through.

"They have once a year have a dedication for the new babies in the congregation."

Do you remember a couple by the name of Joseph and Mary bringing their baby to the temple? Although scripture does not require this act of Christians today, what could be wrong about parents making a public statement that they want to raise their new baby in the Lord?

"They have a woman as a minister to the women."

I don't think Paul ever wrote anything about women being silent and not having authority over other women.

"I know there is more. They are starting a bible class teaching from the book "Experiencing God". Only 10 to this class. I was attending there for a long time and didn't realize what was going on."

Okay, first there's nothing wrong with studying a book. Second, every educational institution likes to brag about student teacher ratio. 10 to a class is not a negative. Third, how long do you have to attend a Bible class before you know what it's about?

"They also have a class where they do majority of the time is singing of contemporary songs, and then they have a little time for a very short devotional."

At most churches, at least a third of the people who attend a morning worship service DO NOT attend Bible class. If a class like you describe would appeal to some of that third, is that not better than their not coming at all?

"This is happening also to Spring Woodlands Church of Christ in the Woodlands, Tx where we use to attend as well."

Could you be the change agent?

"They are fixing to build a 10 million + dollar building up north somewhere."

It ain't cheap to build in Dallas. What amount would be O.K. with you?

"This is more powering than Jim Jones and his cult."

Really? What is the death toll at the Woodlands? This is right up there with the Hitler/NIV Bible comparison.

"I can't believe how people can be so blind and deaf about what is going on in these churches."

      Me neither.

"They are so wrapped up in being entertained."

I guess only you, along with God, know their hearts.

It's no wonder we can't settle the scriptural issues. We're too busy creating our own.

    ...........................THE BOOK

What Happened At the Madison Church of Christ?

There are thousands of churches being taken over across America.

This book is only about one of those churches. It's about the Madison Church Of Christ. By studying the methods used here along with the resource references you might be able to inoculate your church. At the very least you will recognize the signs early on.

Many of the current members of the Madison Church of Christ still don't know what happened.
Some never will know! This book is for them as well.

Madison Church of Christ was a 60 year old church. At one time it was one of the largest churches in the US, and the largest Church of Christ.

It thrived for many years on the vision of it's elders and those of it's ministers. Those visions undoubtably came from the the inspired word of Jesus Christ.

At sometime in the last 10 years there was a deliberate plan by a majority of the elders to take the Madison Church of Christ into a more worldly realm.

They used secrecy, covert planning, and outside sources to scheme and to change the format and direction of the Madison Church of Christ.

The Elders knew that the membership would never approve such a plan. Using the tools of the "Community Church Movement"(consultants, books, seminars, meetings, planters, seeders) they slowly started initiating change so it was never noticed by the members until it was too late.....

At the heart of the plan was the fact that old members were going to be driven off so new techniques could be used to go out and reach the unchurched through new "Contemporary Holy Entertainment" methods developed by the "Community Church Movement"

Old members had to be kept on board long enough to get their plans ready, or the funds would not be there to pay for the new building. So by the plans very nature, it had to be secret.

The church had no plan in effect to renew or approve elders. There was never any need. The elders had always been "as approved by God". 10 of the last 15 elders would begin to shed some doubt on that.

The Elders did not even need a majority at first, because some of the elders went along unwittingly.

This edition starts shortly after some of the members begin to smell something strange in January 2001. Later editions may go back and fill in some of the timeline.

To even start to understand whats happening here, you must read the background materials in the first of the book.

This is only the first edition, and not the end. New editions will be printed as needed. To keep abreast of current changes, please visit our web site; http://www.concernedmembers.com/madison

    Here is the list of players;
