After watching a re run of The Virginian on TG4 TV here in Ireland I was brought back to very happy times I had as a teenager growing up. I am now filled with nostalgia every time I watch it, which incidentally is at lunch time every day from Monday to Friday. The programme was a classic of simpler times gone past and it spurned me to find out if there was a web site for the programme. How delighted I was when I discovered the web site. I was also saddened to learn of the death, which I had forgotton about, of Doug Mc Clure who was along with James Drury the anchor man for The Virginian. The programme also brough home to me why we love America so much. May God have mercy on your soul Doug and we hope that you are keeping the angels happy with stories of your exploits in The Virginian. I also hope that you, James Drury, and all the other cast members have a long and happy life and I would be delighted to know when James Drury will be making appearances in the States as I am going to Texas on 10th to 29th August 2007 and would be delighted to meet him. Whatever happened to Steve?, there is not much about him and in particular there are no current photos of him.
I know what you mean, I love the show too and it's stars. I will post any appearance dates I get from Mr. Drury.
If you're interested in discussing 'The Virginian' come on over to our discussion group, The Virginian Authorized. http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/The_Virginian_authorized/
If you would like a new 2006 book that's all about 'The Virginian' see web site

Great book, BTW. All the major stars that are still with us were interviewed for the book. James Drury, Gary Clarke, Roberta Shore, Randy Boone, Sara Lane. Doug McClure has a chapter from interviews with his daughter Tane and his wives.
Steve Hill - Gary Clarke, lives in Arizona now and is well and very active in his church.
I also love to watch The Virginian on TG4. Have been looking forward to lunch time everyday. Would love see current pictures of the cast. Sad to hear that Trampas is gone.Has James Drury starred in any films or tv episodes lately?
You are luckier than most of the world. 'The Virginian' seems to be only playing in Ireland at the moment.
There are some current photos of James Drury at our Virginian discussion group (see previous post). They were taken at Western Festivals in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Mr. Drury is now 73. There are also some pictures of him on this site at Autographed Photos. But I don't know what year they were taken.
Mr. Drury's most current two films are the 2000 'The Virginian' movie...he has a cameo as 'the rider'. And 2005 film 'Hell To Pay', he plays Sheriff J.T. Coffee.
I hope this is of some interest,
'Long Live the Virginian' :)
