The Easter story for children.

To be made the evening before Easter You need:

1 cup whole pecans
1 tsp. Vinegar
3 egg whites pinch salt
1 cup sugar
zipper baggie, wooden spoon, tape, Bible

Preheat oven to 300 degrees (this is important-don't wait until you're half done with the recipe)!

Place pecans in zipper baggie and let children beat them with the wooden spoon to break into small pieces.

Explain that after Jesus was arrested. He was beaten by the Roman soldiers.

Read John 19:1-3.

Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1 tsp. Vinegar into mixing bowl.
Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross, He was given vinegar to drink.

Read John 19:28-30.

Add egg whites to vinegar. Eggs represent life.

Explain that Jesus gave His life to give us life.

Read John 10:10-11.

Sprinkle a little salt into each child's hand. Let them taste it and brush the rest into the bowl.
Explain that this represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers, and the bitterness of our own sin.

Read Luke 23:27.

So far, the ingredients are not very appetizing. Add 1 cup sugar.
Explain that the sweetest part of the story is that Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to know and belong to Him.

Read Ps. 34:8 and John 3:16.

Beat with a mixer on high speed for 12 to 15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed.
Explain that the color white Represents --in God's eyes -- the purity of those whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus.

Read Isa. 1:18 and John 3:1-3.

Fold in broken nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto wax paper-covered cookie sheet. Explain that each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus' body was laid.

Read Matt. 27:57-60.

Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door and turn the oven OFF. Give each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door.
Explain that Jesus' tomb was sealed.

Read Matt. 27:65-66.

GO TO BED!

Explain that they may feel sad to leave the cookies in the oven overnight. Jesus' followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed.

Read John 16:20 and 22.

On Easter morning, open the oven and give everyone a cookie. Notice the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow!

On the first Easter, Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty.

Read Matt. 28:1-9

Angel Biscuits II

April 13 2006, 3:38 PM

"These are a delicious cross between a roll and a biscuit. You roll them out like a biscuit, and they rise like a roll."

INGREDIENTS:
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 cups buttermilk
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons white sugar
3/4 cup shortening

DIRECTIONS:
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 5 minutes. Add buttermilk to yeast mixture, and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in yeast mixture until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a floured surface, and knead 4 or 5 times.
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out biscuits with a 2 1/2 inch round cutter. Place on lightly greased baking sheets, barely touching each other. Cover, and let rise in a warm place free from drafts for 1 hour, or until almost doubled in size. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until browned.

Those sound good!
I love bread of any kind. I think I will try these for dinner on Sunday.
Now if I can just figure out what else I am going to serve.
I am tired of ham...we just had that last week.
Hmmmmm......

Hot Cross + Buns

HOT CROSS BUN RECEPIE WITH BIBLE VERSES
http://bachand.home.texas.net/recipes/hot_cr_buns.htm

A tradition I observe on Good Friday is that of eating Hot Cross Buns. In the United States they become available on Ash Wednesday, In England they are eaten on Good Friday since 1361 when they were distributed then by the Monks of St. Albanas Cathedral in Hertfordshire north of London.
Hot Cross Buns symbolize the death of Jesus Christ. The Cross on it symbolizes the Cross he died on. It points to the 4 directions the 4 corners of the Earth and represents the Spirits Of The Heavens that watch over them. Zech. 6:4-8 The fruit symbolizes life and the nails in the Cross. The Shape of the Bun represents the stone in front of Chist's Tomb that was rolled away and to remind us of the time Christ spent in the tomb.

RICE KRISPY EASTER EGGS

April 16 2006, 2:54 PM

I debated on putting this on today because I use Jello Jiggler Egg Molds in it, and I did not see any in Jello display this year. I finally decided to share it with you after I got another idea. Besides it is EASTER. Using Empty Egg Cartons for molds. Only problem is to keep eggs from stiking to the foam, maybe put wax paper between Rice Krispy Eggs and them, but haven't tried it yet.
IN A LARGE POT ~ DONT USE ALUMINUM OR WORN/SCRATCHED TEFLON POTS/PANS ~

PUT 4 TABLESPOONS BUTTER. HEAT AT MEDIUM UNTIL MELTED. IMMEDIATELY STIR IN A 12 OZ OR 10 OZ PACKAGE OF MINI MARSHMELLOWS. STIR THE MARSHMELLOWS UNTIL THEY ARE MELTED. I LIKE THE MULI COLRED ONES. REMEMBER THE APPEARENCE AND TEXTURE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.

MEASURE 6 CUPS OF RAZZLE DAZZLE RICE KRISPIES, I GOT SOME ARROUND CHRISTMAS TIME THAT HADE RED AND GREEN AS WELL AS RED AND BROWN RICE KRISPIES. IF YOU CAN GET THEM THEY WILL MAKE YOUR RICE KRISPIE EGGS MORE EASTERY AND PRETTY. IF NOT USE REGULAR RICE KRISPIES, AND DIE THEM if possible. I MEAN COLOR THEM.

STIR RICE KRISPIES INTO THE Well MELTED MARSHMELLOW MIXTURE CLOCKWISE TO ADD POSITIVE ENERGY to the Rice Krispy egg,.
WHEN ALL MIXED UP GET A LARGE SOUP SPOON AND SCOOP THE RICE KRISPIE MIXTURE INTO THE BOTTOM AND TOP OF THE JELLO JIGGLER EGG MOLDS. CLOSE AND RUBBER BAND SHUT AND FORGET ABOUT THEM FOR ABOUT 12 HOURS OR UNTIL YOU FIGURE THEY ARE DRY.

DO NOT COOK IN OVEN OR MICROWAVE.LET SET UNTIL FIRM. SLOWLY REMOVE THE RICE KRISPY TREATS FROM THE MOLDS AND PRESS TOP AND BOTTOM TOGETHER AND SHAPE TO BE EGG LIKE. YOU WILL HAVE SOME GREAT EGG SHAPED RICE KRISPIES. THEY SEEM TO LAST LONGER THEN THE SQUARE ONES. THEY CAN ALSO BE MADE ROUND FOR SOFT BALLS, BASKET BALLS, ETC. WITH IMAGINATION ....SHARE AND ENJOY..

IMPORTANT ~ KEEP CATS AWAY FROM EASTER LILYS AS THEY ARE VERY POISONOUS AND WILL KILL THEM IF THEY CHEW ON THE PLANT.

At Christmas time you can make Rice Krispy eggs but make them round with heavy string or similar through them and hang them on your tree like Christmas Bulbs ~ Edible ones that is.DO NOT DO this at home IF you HAVE a PET that likes to climb such as a cat as he/she may try to climb the tree after it and do a magic trick with the tree making it Fall apart.

HAVE A FANTASTIC EASTER, ENJOY THE RICE KRISPY EGGS AND REMEMBER WHERE YOUR TOWEL IS DNA4FR
