THE FEAST OF 42ITY WAS STARTED AS A TRIBUTE TO DOUGLAs ADAMS MARCH 11 2002 AND I SHARE THIS POSTING ON IT FROM FLOOR 42. SHARE AND ENJOY IT

The Feast of 42ity

Starts: March 11 (DNA's birthday)

Ends: May 11 (DNA's deathday)

Purpose: A two month period in which DNA's devoted fans savagely consume his works at a lightning rate. Read everything you can find. Listen to everything you can find. Try to make as many new fans as possible. Carry yourselves in a manner which will better propagate the DNA Virus. If you produce any written works, in addition to however you usually sign it, add the tagline DNA 4FR. Personally, I already put it on everything I do. I would absolutely love to be perusing works in 20 years time and see the tag appear on someone's submission. Guaranteed employment.

Official Ceremonies:

- March 11: Listen to Margo Buchanan's "Rockstar". Start reading.

- May 11: Listen to the Beatles' "Paperback Writer". Finish reading.

I don't know if this will catch on. Among the obvious reverential reasons to do this is also found a purely self-serving reason. These proceedings will doubtlessly provide a great opportunity for our collective eccentricities to shine through the pale shade of mediocrity which has descended upon the earth. Wander around town with towels and satchels, taking notes, muttering things ("'Mostly Harmless' in deed!"), and so forth.

Heuh. Why does everything I love get destroyed?

I don't think DNA is getting any new fans, but his old ones remain loyal.
