Just got back from this afternoons gig in Stoke. What a fucking disgrace, im suprised nobody's posted anything.
Pete was fucked, spent almost the entire sat (all 5 or 6 songs) sat on the floor next to the drummer. Seemed to forget words to songs and just wasnt with it at all. Band tried to sort him out but to no avail, I felt sorry for Pat and Drew.
I thought he was sorting himself out?, the final nail in the coffin for me im affraid, that is the last babyshambles gig i am off to.
The worst thing was, most of the crowd seemed to really enjoy it and were still shouting 'we love you Pete' after he had fucked off. Pathetic

How many times has this kind of thing happened though? If I was going to a Shambles gig I'd expect it. That's exactly WHY I don't go to them. Waste of time and money... you pay to get pissed off.
Signatures are gay.

When he pushed the amp over into Patrick then was grinning saying 'Is he angry? Is he angry?' in his face I was astounded. The gig was an absolute disgrace. The only the good feeling I had after leaving was towards Patrick who managed to remain calm & just leave the stage ignoring Peter's taunts. I'd have fucking slapped him.
I'm uploading some photos now.

and from the photos of The Garage, Brixton, and the 100 Club, it takes a
lot of courage to say he is looking well.
He is a bit puffier, but that could be his liver problems (how do I know he
has problems? bugger me, he drinks and snorts / smokes / takes anything he
can lay his hands on, hardly rocket science is it?).
but his eyes look awful, still veyr black around, a lot of death as it
happens. Eyes of recovering addicts look yellow and pasty around, not ink
black, especially after 2 weeks supposedly "clean".
I am very very very very sorry to see him give in yet another time.

the gigs are a freakshow, the sound is awful, pete is wasted and the majority of people i saw at the two (and last) babyshambles gigs i was at didn't even seem to be interested in the music. just wanted to shout "pete pete pete!" and jump into people. horrible horrible times. and it doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon. :(

People keep going to the gigs though. Its like people just want to go see a car crash... then say they worry about him. Stop going then! He's not going to get better while he's gigging thats for sure

I honestly think a lot of those people want him to die so they can have their own little Kurt Cobain/Richie Edwards/etc. type person. It's pretty awful.

fucks sake its been like this for ages. obviously going to a baby shambles gig is a gamble - the crowd may ruin it with lame stage invasions/Peter my be too wrecked to perform etc
its been a gamble for about 9 months or so.
I woundt pass up a chance to see them if they came near me though cos when on form and the music is in the fore its an amazing show.

only reason i wouldn't go is because the band are shit, really shit. i couldn't care less about the man anymore. but of course still hope he sorts his shit out.

i went to see them when they first started, ppl said oh they've just started gigging etc, give them time. fair enough. went to see em more recently as ppl have been saying how "awesome" the gigs have been. no change. long live the libertines.

yeah thats quite true. the last three times ive seen babyshambles they have either not turned up, or turned up fucked of in a stop (and then walked off). there was alot of positivness surrounding the libertines (even if on the inside, there was alot of unhappyness). with babyshambles, its all negative -on the inside and out. today, th crowd were chanting 'albion' and pete wasnt even arsed at all. i'm listening to pink flag by wire x

Well, that's the last Babyshambles gig for me. Enough is enough. Lesson well, and truly learned.
Fucking disgrace doesn't even begin to cover it. I have nothing more to say, other than props to Drew, Patrick, and Adam, who managed somehow walk off that stage with their dignity intact.

the reason people like *you* go to babyshambles gigs might be in the hope that he's picked up, especially given the "rehab". however, given the reports back from the gigs seems to suggest that a goodly amount of people actually are going hoping to see him burn.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid the general public actually are. I've just had a quick glance at .net and i'm really starting to worry about the future of a race.
Surely people can't be so naive, sychophantic and wrong time and time again without ever learning anything from whats happened. These people aren't hero worshipping 13 year old teenagers either but young adults, which worries me even more.

it seems to me maybe he has gotta gig again so soon to recoup the bail money perhaps which whoever layed out for him most probably wants. only a guess.......if thats the case i feel sorry for him. it takes time to adjust after rehab, its never advised to just jump straight back into the scene you were getting messed up in. it sounds bad, but one should distance oneself from anything or one who might tempt you into relapsing. good luck peter...

What also needs to be mentioned is the utterly horrifying way in which the venue handled the situation after Peter's impromptu runner. I'm assuming that in order to give him, and the band enough time to make their getaway, the venue staff took it upon themselves to lock everyone in, which just about breaks every single health and safety rule in the book. The venue was over-crowded as it was, and frankly they were lucky that no-one was hurt in the crush of people attempting to get out. It was an absolute shambles - no pun intended.
There is no if's, and's, but's, or maybe's about it. Peter is absolutely one hundred percent cracked out again, if indeed he ever stopped.
I'm not a naive teenager still in the starry-eyed vestiges of hero-worship, and I'm certainly not stupid. One would have had to have been blind, deaf, and dumb not to have realised the state he was in today at Stoke. The naivety being displayed on some of the other boards is astounding.
What do they need before it's drummed into their heads that Peter is once again on a dangerous, drug-fuelled, downward spiral? A picture of Peter slumped beside the drum kit, too *fucked* to get up? Or how about a picture of Peter deliberately tearing down part of Adam's drum kit? Or deliberately knocking over Pat's guitar amps? Or throwing mics at the crowd? Or smashing up equipment, and destroying light fixtures? Do you need to see, and hear him on stage, forgetting song lyrics, and singing off key? Watch while other band members cover for him, having to sing lyrics which Peter should be singing? Watch him break off mid-song to throw temper tantrums, and storm off-stage? It's like witnessing the crowd all over again, with their jeering and chanting, treating Peter as if he were some sort of iconic demi-God to be idolised.
They, and many others couldn't give a flying fig about any other member of that band, and more importantly, their music, and I'll give you a perfect example. A 200 strong crowd, stood outside that venue, waiting to get in, and both Patrick, and Adam walked right by, heading up the street. Not one person even recognised them, or even knew who they were. A great deal of people were there to witness a train crash, and by Christ did they get one.
There was nothing "punk," "alternative," "exciting," or "entertaining," about it in the slightest. In fact, it was embarassing, shambolic (and not in the good way), and utterly heart-wrenching to watch. James Mullord (who I had the absolute *displeasure* of running into at the end of the gig), and the numerous other sycophant leeches surrounding Peter want to be taken outside and shaken for allowing this circus to continue.
Peter is in some serious trouble. Legal worries aside, IMHO, Peter is not fit to be playing live, period. His mood swings on stage today were not only upsetting, but downright frightening to witness. He was on the verge of falling apart, and I certainly have no wish to watch it happen. Enough is enough. Five times I've been to see this band play live, and five times it's ended in disaster.
I am sick, and tired of going to see them, at the same time feeling guilty, because I feel like I'm aiding Peter's habit, or supporting it in someway, just by simply being there. Peter right now doesn't deserve to have a band as potentially good as Babyshambles. Patrick, and Drew are both incredible musicians, and while I can't judge Adam accurately, based on only two performances, from were I was standing today there is only one weak link in that band, and it's neither of those three. I won't be attending another Babyshambles, or Peter gig again anytime soon. Yes, I'm angry, yes I'm hurt, and yes I'll probably feel much calmer in the morning, but more than anything, I just cannot bear to see Peter so hell-bent on sabotaging his career, but more importantly himself.

Tia is so right with her GIG review.
I had a 'cracking' view of the 'sham' from standing on the sofa and thats exactly what happened ,no bull. straight as an arrow.
After 5 gigs Ive finally buried the ghost.
Now..... where's my 'Bored of Doherty' T shirt.
The only positive thing that happened was it DIDNT KICK OFF and 'fans' need to be commended for this.

I really don't see why anyone is surprised at this. It takes a longer stay than what 10 days? in rehab to get someone clean. He needs three months away with real help and then maybe (if he works at it) he'll have a chance. But then again let's face it, it doesn't really seem like he wants to get clean. Therefore his chances are pretty much zero, which is very sad ...

The heart wrenching thing for me is I saw Babyshambles twice when it was absolutely superb, two of the best gigs Ive ever been to, since then though I've seen two average and three appalling gigs. And like you said not down to anyone else but Peter. I think Pat should show as much dignity as he did yesterday in walking calmly off stage and follow Gemma out of the door, he and Dru are talented lads and both will find success in another venture I'm sure, they'll certainly not find it with gigs like this, as they have now gone from one of the best live bands Ive ever seen to possibly the worse.
Agent Blue and their frontman showed that beforehand.
Peter, retire, sort yourself out, and if you ever do, and only then, then you can make a return to music. Right now, I love you, but I'm afraid to say youre killing that love and many others who love you, and replacing it with tabloid sycophants.

Nice one Tia, I saw Pat walk past the crowd before the gig, and made the comment to my girlfriend that nobody even knew he was the lead guitarist. There were a group of lads behind us in the queue, who seemed pretty decent, but were saying to each other ' I hope Pete's really fucked'.
Very strange, I think the true fans are being replaced by Sun readers more interested in the car crash than the music.
