but it sure seems like it hasn't, and I'm spazzing out I believe the term to be, over having to listen to the new songs from a fucking mobile phone recording on youtube.
someone call your cousin on the radio and tell them to leak the advanced copies.
and if the authorities are reading this; Hi, you caught me in the midst of rehearsing an online play.

i love the first album is in my top 5 probably...the second one is good but nowhere near the gloomy moodiness of turn on the bright lights. stella is an absolute tune.
i dont get how people dont like them. perhaps they have ripped off joy division but they are very good band in their own right. and paul banks is from Clacton- on - sea!

I'll never get why people are on about joy division and interpol simply because both Ian and Banks both are baritones. that's where the likeness ends, but just because some wank of a journalist wrote it in an article it stuck.
I love these new clips anyway, especially 'pioneer', it's almost leif erikson-class on that one. and he seems to have improved further as a lyricist.
editors are good, but nowhere near interpol on TOTBL.

did you ever read the article where interpol and some journo went to a medium and they communicated with ian curtis? was really funny. i think you'll find even the band (interpol) would admit a likeness for sounding like JD. he can't help it that his voice is exactly the same. and editors are utter shit!

they are way better than editors, that's for sure.
but I don't know, the second album didn't do much for me either. some good songs like Rosemary but all in all a mediocre effort. I suppose INterpols music is wearing thin after listening to it for a while.
(I really liked the first one, though. way back then.)

yeah but they reject such rumours as often as they humour them. they've claimed they never heard of Joy Division until they heard about the comparisons. he does sound a lot like curtis at moments, I'll give you that, but mainly it seems they're just interested in how they both are baritones and make moody music. JD's music compared to interpol's doesn't really parallel each other at that many recognizable levels for them to owe anything to JD...in my opinion.
still, two phenomenal bands.

I really loved the first album too. I always think of it when I sit the Prince Charles Cinema because of the cover.
Paul Banks said this about the way he sings: "Have you ever been so depressed that you can hardly walk? I wanted to sing a song with cliche love lyrics but have it communicate a sense of despair so intense that melody is out of the question. Monotonous shouting was expressive of something I wanted to express."
