i hate him for diving against us and getting a penalty. hardly gentlemanly. was pure gutted at that. i mean it was only against celtic, he was too good for us. nae need for diving

he lost his balance, although i could level that at most man u attackers of the modern age i wouldnt say that about Giggs. He dont need to dive - hes Ryan Giggs!

I have met him briefly Clark and I can say he is a ggenuinely nice geezer - almost embarrassed to be recognised. And we were sober that afternoon at Trafford! Took a few minutes to say hello and ask how we were.
Model professional. I doubt whether any player of the modern age will ever equal 10 league winners medals with the same side. United through and through.
GIGGS WILL TEAR THEM APART AGAIN.

he doesnt need to dive but he did. but everyones at it. i mind larsson diving against liverpool in the uefa cup back in 1998. one of the worst dives ever, got a penalty! never seen him dive after that, although im sure a few opposition fans would disagree.
but i dont mind giggs really. was down for his testimonial. excellent player

Usually fucking hate United and all they stand for, but hats off to Ryan Giggs. One of the finest players to have graced the Premiership (along with Cantona, Shearer, Zola and Bergkamp).

Was chuffed to see that they let him lift the trophy. I don't think anyone at the club deserves it more, after the service he has provided over the years. Legend.

Brilliant for him and thoroughly deserved.
I still dig out the old photos of me getting his autograph during a Welsh training session when i was about 14 down at Caldicot F.C.

Jayo, I will have a grand with you now that Liverpool wont win the league next season or the season after. they sold their club to a pair of fucking idiots who hate each other and you have 2 players in Torres and Gerrard who are world class. The rest are fucking rubbish.
That will not win you the league again son.
Big respect to Liverpool of the 70's and 80's they were fucking immense.
Now?
Also rans and will be for the foreseeable future. Enjoy a nice cup run again next year.
SYHTFOLT.

Theres no point in dashing our chances now, theres still a summer of transfer activity ahead and I have every faith in Rafa.

Also I really enjoyed tonights final and have to say it was a shame it had to be decided on pens. I just wish united hadn't of won as I was surrounded by about 1,000 united fans and the fireworks are doing my head in.

I tell you something. Liverpool fans have my total respect, the ones who know about football. That club is a proper club and its a fucking disgrace that they havent looked like winning the league in all them years.
They are falling further and further behind which is why a smart manager like Benitez saves his best for Cup runs.
The sad thing is I want a strong Liverpool and for far too long they aint been able to step up to the plate and get stuck in over a season.
Man u and Liverpool are the two biggest clubs in the country.
Like United were nowhere in the late 70's and all of the 80's when I used to turn up as a nipper to watch Alan fucking Brazil and Peter fuckign Davenport lead the line, so now its the same for Liverpool.
But actually nowhere near as bad - we were fucking shit for years!

"My only gripe with him is for choosing to play for Wales, thus condemning England to ten years of "problems down the left"."
Fuck off you miserable chelski cunt. He was never available for England, come on United!!!!!!!!!
Was so glad when Anderson put his away, he's my new favourite player, he's the man for next season. Was gutted when Ronnie missed but so glad when we said being interviewed after saying he was staying, can't wait for next season.
Annoyed though that the scunttish fuckers runied us having a parade in the next few days.

Hairy Welsh cunt who should have stepped up to the plate and gone and played with the big boys and joined Milan when they wanted him. Which was about 10 years ago. But I guess we'll never know. now.
Still at least we may see less of that combover twat Booby Charlton now he's overtaken his record.

No he didn't moron. He played for England School Boys. Check your facts dick fuck!!!! And he played for them because he went to school in England and thats the only reason.

Ryan couldnt play for England, he's a sound guy, and I was so relieved he scored his penalty. His brother Rhodri is a complete fucking cunt though who I would happily see dead (and he probably will be if continues down the same road).

Calm down Rob. I'm a Norwich fan *groans*. And I was supporting Man Utd tonight. I'm just saying that the only thing I've got against Giggs is that he chose to play for Wales when he could have played for England.
Scoring disabled. You must be logged in to score posts.
No I'm not from Norwich, some of my family are and I made the decision to support Norwich when I was about four. It's a hard road innit?
I think people respect Giggs for the same reason they respect people like Le Tissier and (so far) Gerrard - they're loyal to their team and would rather stick with the place that made them than take the dollar and fuck off somewhere else.

sorry matge but if you are capped for schoolboys you certainly can play for that country. Giggs did the right thing cos his dad was a cunt and he wanted to play with Mark hughes. Cant knock him for that.

aa ok well im a norfolk lad and still live the other side of the county although i dont get to so many games these days....
Norwich are not in so bad a situation at the moment and are well placed out of all the championship clubs off the field so futures not looking that bad :)
FEll out of the top league at the worst time in history in 1995 though :(

Sorry CallicoLOL but you're wrong. Check your facts....
"Giggs captained England Schoolboys (which all schoolboys in England are eligible to play for, regardless of nationality), but played for the Welsh national team as an adult. "
...
"Giggs ended up signing with United. He represented England at Schoolboy level (as Ryan Wilson) playing at Wembley against Germany in 1989.
Similarly, England Under-21 coach Lawrie McMenemy checked to see whether he was eligible to play for the national team. Apart from Wales (his birthplace), the only other country he was eligible to play for was Sierra Leone, where his grandfather, on his father side, originated from. He only played for England schoolboys because he grew up in Salford."

admit i'm wrong about what? if you play for england schoolboys you can play for england. whats there to admit? Giggs is Welsh but he could have played for England. Theres nothing to be wrong about - he made his decision.
Scoring disabled. You must be logged in to score posts.
How old are you? You sound like a twelve year old. He played for England School Boys because he went to school in England. Thats it. It has no reference on the full national team. Why can't you accept that? I don't even know why I'm arguing this but you're wrong.
Scoring disabled. You must be logged in to score posts.
i am 12. i am arguing with you because there are planty of examples of how your country of birth means shit in sport. Giggs could have played for England as long as he didnt get a full cap for Wales.
Is that too fucking hard for you to understand?
Scoring disabled. You must be logged in to score posts.
and even if he took a full Welsh cap he could have not played for Wales for a few years and taken English naturalisation. its not difficult, even for 12 year old kids like me.
Scoring disabled. You must be logged in to score posts.
What qualifies him to play for England? He was born in Wales, his parents were born in Wales. 3 of his grandparents were born in Wales and the other was born in Sierra Leonne. That sounds likes he's English through and through. Ha ha.
Scoring disabled. You must be logged in to score posts.
ok silly boy. take it from a 12 year old. If you live in England for a certain number of years you automatically become eligible for naturalisation which means that Giggs had he wanted to could have been an English international from about 19. He didnt and thats his choice, I still love him anyway and given the amount of "injuries" he had for Wales I suppose his opinion of the Wales football team says it all really.
Football has loads of precedents, rugby even more which you should know if youre actually Welsh.
Are we done yet?

Giggs never couldve played for England, he's said so himself on many occasions, he had no English family, only played for England schoolboys as he was at school in England.

Danny youre wrong. Lesley Vainikolo the rugby wing who got capped for england this year has no blood relatives or lineage here. hey presto he turns out for england. it can all be done.

You obviously don't understand Nationalisation. Because his nationality is British. So there's no way he could have changed it from Welsh British to English British. It takes some intelligence to realise when you are wrong but I guess with your youth you haven't realised that yet. Ha ha.

Wee Rob is right, Vallikano wasnt British so got British nationality and was allowed to choose (much like Hargreaves with military nationality), Giggs didnt have this right, least not without taking Fifa/Uefa to court and risking our serperate nations status.

Giggs: 15 years in Man Utd's 1st team (or thereabouts), 759 games (and what an occaison to break the record), 10 titles, X no. of FA Cups, 2 CL's. Best Premiership player ever <------ FACT.
Maybe not the most exciting, but no-one has a trophy cabinet/ record like Giggsy. Genuine legend.

Flattened by Simon Tracey for a certain penalty and red card, less than 5 minutes into the first ever premier league fixtures and denied the penalty, only for Brian Deane to score the first premier League goal and United to beat the 'mighty red devils' 2-1, the first of a few memorable league and cup victories before we were to be relegated at the cheating hands of hans segers 3 years later. Giggs best premier league player? Not a chance. That distinction belonged to a certain Mr. Cantona.

As a United fan, there's a lot of great players that have come and gone, we've been spoiled, and that had a massive impact to our club alone, Keane, Scmeichel, Cantona, Ronaldo et al. But for consistency and loyalty and overall medal haul, no-one measures up to Giggs. I could make cases for a dozen players who were better to watch and their relative impact on the game, but Giggs has outlasted them all pretty much and has more to show for it.
In short: 10 titles, 2 CL's, some FA Cups, 759 appearances >>>>>>> being foreign.

And if you can think of a more pant-wettingly exciting way to round off your career at the highest level, than a) breaking the all-time appearance record (for the world's greatest football team (TM) ), whilst b) simultaneously winning one of the greatest European Cup finals ever, I AM ALL EARS.
Giggs >>>>>>>> everyone.

Benny, his eyes are too fucking close together for one, he's got teh crappest hair this side of Bon Jovi circa 1987 and to cap it all off, imagine his just the macho side of squeaky mancunian wet-nursed gayboy voice lamenting an 8 month ban by saying "wun the seaaagells fallow tha trawlaw, its cos thi think szarrrdeeens wull beh throne ohvur the side (ah sedd ohvur the side)"
NO FUCKING COMPARISON
CANTONA WON THE TITLE FOR LEEDS
HE TRANSFORMED UNITED INTO A TITLE WINNING SIDE
HE WOULD SPIT AT THE FEET OF FUCKING GOLDEN TAN/BOOT BOY POCK MARKED CUNTHOLE RONALDO
HE SCORED THE GREATEST GOAL I'VE EVER SEEN SCORED AGAINST SHEFFIELD UNITED IN 40 YEARS OF ATTENDING MATCHES AND HOW DID HE CELEBRATE? HE STOOD IN FRONT OF OUR KOP WITH HIS COLLAR UP AND HIS CHEST PUFFED OUT AND SNORTED TO A STANDING OVATION. GIGGS MIGHT HAVE WIPED HIS ARSE ON SIR BOBBY'S EVER THINNING COMB-OVER TONIGHT, A NIGHT OF PURE SENTIMENT PLAYING SCHOLES AND GIGGS AND NEARLY FUCKING LOSING BY A HAIRS BREADTH ON PENALTIES, NOT LEAST THE FAULT OF FUCKING POCK-MARKED CUNTHOLE RONALDO - WHAT A WAY TO SHOW RESPECT FOR THE SURVIVING BUSBY BABES, ALLOWING A SUB-STANDARD, WELL PAST HIS BEST GIGGS TO BREAK THE NOBLE CHARLTON (R) 's APPEARANCE RECORD.... I'M SURPRISED THEY DIDNT GIVE GIGGSY A MIC FOR HIM TO LEAD A CHORUS OF 'WHOS THAT LYING ON THE TARMAC???' FOR FUCKSAKE.
CANTONA WAS GOD. END OF.

I love Ryan Giggs. In a sport that has lost all its intergrity he is a shining beacon of what the game should and could be.
I remember when he burst onto the scene at 17. He scored an amazing goal against Spurs (which I still think is the best goal I've ever seen), beating to players with blistering pace befor clipping the ball past teh keeper from the edge of the box. Then there was that first goal for Wales - a screaming free kick against Belgium that really made people sit up. I remember the first time I saw him live for Wwales. Every time he got the ball there was a buzz in the crowd, heads leaning forward, wishing/expecting him to something amazing. And when he got into his stride down that wing, turning defenders every which way until they sometimes fell over, there was nothing more joyous. When he ran he was free!
His loyalty to Manchester United is something which I have always found particularly great. He never chased the cash. He loved playing football, was happy at his club, and never succumbed to the greed that has often supplanted the joy of football in so many others that went before him and have gone since. His career is what everybody should aspire to.
Sir Alex was really like the father he never had, and he never desserted him. I have often wondered how those two feel for each other ebhidn closed doors. Both are a testament to each other. You never heard of Giggs in the press. At the start of his career the media hounded him but soon found that there was no filth to uncover in their sordid little rags and were forced to give up the ghost.
You never saw his face crumple in rage at a referee. On the few occassions that he did speak to the ref it was almost pleadingly - he simply does not have it in him to be nasty.
As for the question of why he chose to play for Wales, this is a moot point. In Wales we are proud of our country. Not in a nationalistic, racist, violent, unpleasant way. We are quietly proud, in a gentle understated manner, that we come from the green hills with running water. Any Welsh man worth his salt could never choose to play international football for another country to which he did not belong. It is simply not in us do so. If you fail to understand this, you will never understand.
His sportsmanship is another thing that sets Ryan Giggs apart. He was always a great sliding tackler (how many times did he save Lee Sharpe's arse in that season he had at left back?) There was always the opportunity to "mis-time" a tackle but you never saw it from him. Any foul he did commit never s
