I went to watch Def Leppard last night. For the third time. And they were fucking brilliant!
They were supported by Whitesnake who played Here I go Again which almost sent one of my friends into tears.
Then the Leppard came on and absolutely blew the roof off the place! AWESOME! The guitarist managed to get through 3 songs before he was tops off (it was 1 song last time).
Whitesnake had whipped the crowd up and Leppard had a little film going through the years of their career before they came on so everyone was ready and then there they were. I can't remember the first song, I don;t think I knew it, but then they played Animal and that was when it started to get class.
They have definitely maintained their standign as second greatest band I have seen live (Arcade Fire are #1). Of all teh bands I've seen there's something about the Leppard which is just class.
At the end, for the last encore, Joe ran back on and was wearing a Welsh rugby shirt and pulling it out with his hands as if to say, "look, I've gone to the trouble of getting a welsh rugby shirt." It was class! The whole crowd went mental and this is a crowd full of people mostly in their forties.
Their encore was Pour Some Sugar On Me and then it came... the question... do you wanna get rocked?!?!!?/!?!
We thought about it for a moment, what with teh credit crunch, the recent redundancies amongst my friends, terrorism, etc but then decided that a rock was a great idea! SO BRILLIANT.
Also, there's something basely sexual about 15,000 screaming the words to When Love and Hate and Hate Collide without the slightest whiff of irony.
My rating: 10/10!!
PS I saw someone with poodle hair and a denim jacket with the sleeves cut off. On the back of the jacket was a massive Iron Maiden picture.

PPS When Joe addresses the crowd he does so in an American accent, even though he is from Sheffield and does not have an American accent. This makes him even better

the drums are played on midi triggers, so meticulously set that they can double and quadruple to the touch on certain beats, so his faster rolls are the work of arm and feet playing in half time but sounding twice as many beats per 'hit'.
im going past the field they found his arm in, later on.
can i also say that i am more disgusted than ever at your musical tastes. ;-)

Funny you should say that Lalizzie because the last time they played, Joe said, "Well it's been a long time since we were last in Cardiff," and some bloke with a fake yank accent shouted from the back, "ninety-eighty-seven!"
Muzz, where is that field? Me and mates seriously want to do a pilgrimage to it

Whatever happened to that midget guitarist they had before Phil - think his name was Pete. Is he still alive? Working in a factory somewhere in Sheffield?
