have you ever gone into a shop for a proper bra fitting, and if so, how helpful was it..i've heard some say they're usually very good and accurate and others say not so good..i've always tried using those little charts (the ones you see at the back of clothing catalogues) but the results they give never seem to match up top what is comfortable
anyway, as my back's been slightly stiff/painful on and off for a while now, i wondered if this may be the reason (although could just be from lifting stuff at work etc) so i looked at a couple of sites of sites just now and tried 3 different charts that supposedly gave an accurate size..one of them i think was quite an old fashioned one as supposedly the way they measur now is different. i tried a far more up to date one, and it gave an EXTREMELY different result to the first i tried..and neither sound right to me (i'd have gone with somewhere between the two). so is it worth having it done properly, or do measuring methods vary greatly from shop tp shop, (as they seem to on said sites)?

I have been and do go every few years, it makes a world of difference! Most women are wearing the wrong size bra and never know, the woman was telling me the last time I went.

yeah, something like 80% of women or something like that have got it wrong, apparently and are wearing an incorrect size, although with so much false information about correct measuring im not surprised
i actually read somewhere you're supposed to be measured every 6 months..
do you go back to the same place each time when you go?

I was bridesmaid at a wedding last year so had to get measured for that. Had never been measured before, so was wearing the ridiculously wrong size!! Would recommend getting measured, made such a difference. Still hate it though.

Yeah, same place Cat, the same place my Mam first took me for my first ever fitting in fact. It kinda puts you at ease when you're used to the people measuring you.

there's this lady at a clothing department near here that will not let you alone when youre trying on bras. it's one of those stalls where it doesnt lock from the outside and she has the keys so she just asks you if youre alright, and when you say yes, she opens the door and comes in. then when you look at her funny and say youre fine she starts measuring you and when you close the door on her she pushes it right back open. repeatedly. she must love boobies.

yes go! it is incredible. the one i go to only has a couple of locations in the states, but if it's as good as this one, i recommend it highly. the basic idea is that most women wear too small a cup and too large a band size. and bad bras put the tension in the straps. a good bra will improve posture, the band should NEVER ride up, and your tits should look really good, but still natural.

I think that one was about which way you put your bra on....
anyway yeah, are there still women out there that don't get fitted?! Get yourself down to M & S, John Lewis or if you're above a D Cup go to Bravissimo. Never seen why anybody wouldn't do it myself. Also what size you need can depend on the style of the bra i.e balconette, full cup, plunge etc but definitely worth getting fitted. Those charts are useless because every bra is slightly different and so are every pair of tits.

Bravissimo is wonderful i get all my bras there (even though they're like £30 each) I go for a fitting once a year because i'm a 34FF (not as big as you think) it's important that i'm measured properly - first time i went i was nervous they asked me to take my bra off, couped my breasts and asked me to try on a bra which was probably the best fitted bra ever.

I cannot believe a thread like this has garnered more than 10 replies without the most usually expected reply. I'm not much of a male chauvinist but I suppose I'll have to pick up where .org slacks off:

This thread has inspired me to go and get measured properly at Marks&Sparks today...I've been putting it off for ages. I'm pretty sure I'm wearing the wrong size because I have to keep popping myself back in.
Will report back later!

I get always confused that you use different sizes than us europeans. the usual bra size for girls would be 75c or 75c in europe - what's the most common size in britain?

"from what i observed a lot of women underestimate their cup size & overestimate their back size e.g. they wear 38C but should wear 36D"
i think cos all those 'work out your size' charts always tell you to add 4 or 5 inches to thr back measurement, (even though im pretty sure that;s not how they do it in shops anymore) thereby making the difference between the underband size and the overbust measurement lesser, and making women think they have a much greater back measurement and smaller cup size than they really do

i recently discovered a G cup fits me quite well, after wearing D's that were just old enough to be stretched for years. i should really get measured cos i'm sure it cant be right. According to wii fit i'm overwheight but i dont think it takes into account my massive heavy knockers.
*breast boasting*
i'm fuckin pissed off about the m&s bigger bra size tax though. so rude.
