Ive been watching bits of this the last week or so....
I was just watching now with a rider bowling along 30 secs behind the peloton after having a puncture. He was riding at 45mph+ behind a team car in order to tag back onto the pack...
Looked bloody dangerous!
I cant figure out how there is not more accidents amongst that throng of riders and with team cars, press motorcylcists and all the other vehicles around. Especially with some of the urban obsticles on the routes...
Im guessing there must be serious accidents ive just not seen any !

They changed the rules last year so that teams aren't forced to pull out, but obviously this one chose to anyway. It's all a bit shit - there's no way people think they can get away with it anymore surely?
Cavendish is quality though.
As for the dangerousness of it all. Fabio Casartelli died on a descent in the nineties, but i don't think there've been many others in recent memory. The only time the bunch is really properly dangerous is during the sprint finishes, which there've been some huge crashes in. But just at normal racing speed, they're pretty minor.
