the best festival will always be glastonbury no matter what acts are on the mian stage. No other festival comes close in breadth and variety on any level.

Glastonbury ceased being relevant years ago. Major UK festivals are now populated by topman wearing pseudo-indie cunts who are, as far as I'm concerned, entirely welcome to their overpriced tickets, average lineups, shitty beer and relentless marketing.
Whilst I appreciate that Latitude has maybe 3 bands I would like to see playing, its hardly worth spending well over 100quid on.
I will be attending

at £45 for the weekend, including a 4 free rides on a old school steam train and seeing the Wedding Present, I think is a pretty good deal.

that's bollocks, if there isn't anyone you like playing glasotnbury then you obviously don't have much interest in music anymore and have you ever seen the indie kids in spain? they're much worse than british indie kids. And i consider all american festivals out of the equation as none of them are camping.

what does that even mean? its a bit like saying "support the troops". If you want to be desperately existential about it then life stopped being relevant years ago, and so in the face of that nothing is relevant at all, least of all any festival anywhere ever, which are only for people that want to go to them anyway. What does "relevant" even mean anymore? How exactly is any festival relevant? Anything is relevant to the people who consume it, so indietracks is no more or less relevant than anything else. The only problem with a lot of festivals is that their overpriced. 150 for tickets to V, compared to 45 for tickets to indietracks, which has a better line up anyway.

just back from latitude - thought it was pretty dogshit to be honest
the bands i already knew were good played ok but there was just too much middle of the road dross on the bill
beer confiscated on the way in? set the mood for quite a shit weekend
sigur ros were the one of the worst things ive seen in the last 15 years...every single song sounds identical...overdramatic with no substance if you ask me

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the end of the road festival. 5000 people at it! I don't know if that's a good thing or not, but it obviously means it can't be as cheap as some of the others people have mentioned. Line-up looks good though:

Also, this sounds attractive about end of the road:
- you won't get all the over hyped bands headlining
- most bands play longer sets than usual
- you can eat a range of quality food
- you can drink a range of quality beers
- the staff and security care about everyone and show respect
- the crowd will be there for the MUSIC
- you can watch the bands without having to stare at huge advertising hoardings.
IE - you don't have buy shitty beer. Still, they won't have a Brothers bar.

oh ok sounds like we got the wrong end of the stick on that beer thing- the first guy told us we had to drink it or chuck it and we didnt bother trying again. i doubt i'll go again unless they pull some killer lineup out the bag but glad it was enjoyed elsewhere
