I think the story is (from NME, anyway) that his entourage beat up Kele from Bloc Party whilst hurling racist abuse. Top man indeed. John Lydon is a complete and utter waste of space.

That Kele was probably asking for it. Eddie Argos gave him one too. And the article (which IS only an article, who knows how true it is) doesn't even say John Lydon was the one being racist.

At least they stand or should I say stood for something.
Lydons entourage had the chance to kick the crap out of Ricky Wilson, Yannis from Foals and Kele all in one go. The Lucky Bastards!! How many on here would relish that opportunity?

i wouldnt. i'd rather teach them of their misgivings, peaceful introduce them to some life-changing music and pat their heads and send them off into the world with hopes that they get the right idea and make some good music. sex pistols were wankers, stood for having an image (which happened to be anti-image,). i categorically stand against that. I have Nevermind The Bollocks, it has good music, but they were masters of high-wankery bad ideals and John Lydon is not intelligent, it just sounds intelligent to say that he is.

A couple of stories about John Lydon. Mate of mine was on tour with Bronski Beat back in the day (scoff if you must) and they were in the same airport as P/I/L. John Lydon felt it necessary to shout "Backs to the wall, boys" when he saw Jimmy. How hilarious? How anarchic? How fucking sad, more like. Also, I used to work with a woman who lived in the same street as the Lydon family in Finsbury Park. Death Disco? The song he wrote about his mother's death? He didn't even visit her fucking once when she was dying from cancer. So much potential there but he turned into a complete and utter asshole. *rant over*

i have much more faith in you towniehater, i'm sure your much more intelligent than Lydon. Me also. But i am sure we are assuringly average in a world-scale.
Lydon gives the impression of being intelligent, but it's all a sly construct of pseudo-articulate conversations which barely come close the threshold of true intelligence

The Sex Pistols singer blames Kele Okereke for causing the fight, telling him to 'grow up and be a true man'

John Lydon has responded to allegations of his involvement in a racist assault by saying his accuser is a liar and in need of the publicity. In a carefully worded statement, Lydon said: "I feel very sorry for a man that needs to lie about what was a perfect evening." In Lydon's version of events, the Sex Pistols singer claims that, "trouble was brought us, resulting in those causing the trouble being physically removed by festival security". He added: "If they need publicity so badly this is the allegation universe they run into."
Referring to his alter-ego in the third person, Lydon says: "After the show John Rotten and management remained behind to sign autographs, which we did for four solid hours without incident and had a great time talking to other Spanish bands, this seems to have sparked jealousy in certain bands."
His only reference to accusations that Kele Okereke was the victim of a racially motivated assault is to say: "We are in the middle of a wonderful tour, after 30 years we are achieving a true unity in our audience. They are multi-varied, all ages, all races, creeds and colours. When you are at a festival with bands who are jealous fools, lies and confusion usually follow."
Later, he apparently directs a comment to Okereke: "Grow up and learn to be a true man", before adding "It's a shame that the wonderful world of the media is riddled with nonsense like this".
The Bloc Party singer could not be contacted for a response.

as much as i think lydon is a bit of a cunt, i find it hard to believe he's racist and would start a brawl with anyone. kele looking for publicity is much more believable as i see him turn up on "cool" new bands myspace wearing their t-shirt an awful lot.

I can't see Lydon being racist but for sure he would handle someone like Kele coming up to him and trying to take the piss out of him and asking for a PIL reunion in a way that Kele could not compete with.
I'm not sure about the followers of Lydon, though. he always had this hooligan element around him so...

Lydon has being saying some weird shit on stage recently, some of which was a bit distasteful and I think I read in NME that he recently fell out with one of their writers for using ethnic slurs....
I doubt Kele would start a fight to gain publicity, seems a bit mental, especially if it can't be proved who started what or what was said.
On the other hand, starting a fight to move the attention away from your terrible new single? Could happen, could happen....

Lydon's a relly frustrating bloke. he tries to claim every trend ever set as something he invented or was doing first, and his autobiography is full of contradictions. He seems to love the sound of his own voice, and annoys the fuck out of me. On the other hand sometimes he talks pure 100% sense and ive got total respect for him for going onto Public Image LTD after the Pistols, totally proving his critics wrong.

I hate John Lydon. I hate the sex Pistols and think they are the most overrated band ever. Is it not so hard to see that they were completly fake. Lydon is a complete bighead who does not deserve to be famous for being a styled pin-up boy. Yes P.I.L. were good but not because of lydons stupid whining, it was because the other two were exeptional musicians.
PS. That new Bloc Party song is shockly bad so dont try pinning me as a discruntled fanboy.
