Really want to move out by myself but don't fancy bankrupting myself. Anyone else manage to do it on this sort of salary?

Depepnds where you want to live, but yes, I know people who live in London on that much, so it can be done.

In the south east but not London.

Just all seems to add up. Looking at at least £600+ a month for everything

depends where you want to live and how much money you want/need.

i've just signed a contract on a really nice flat in the middle of town with a friend of mine. we'll both be pretty skint after paying rent and bills but i'm of the frame of mind that after 2-3 years of living in shitty student houseshares i'd rather spend money on somewhere nice to live where i don't have to get the fucking megabus home every day.

i'm in the middle of the northern quarter (manchester) and literally 1 minutes walk from work. i won't have much money left over but i'm not bothered. i'd rather be skint and live somewhere nice than live in a shithole in fallowfield and have loads of beer money. fuck that.

You'll be ok on that - just have to give up on large spontaneous purchases for a little while.

Probably that much. If Stella goes up in price i'll be re-mortgaging.

Bills to consider when living on your own is:

Rent/Morgo
Council Tax
Service Charges (Flats)
Tv License
Gas
Electric
Water
Line rental + phone
Internet
Sky

After that, just food, beer and travel remain.

£19k is well do-able.About £1,200 p/m. £600 - £700 on bills leaves you about £20 per day for yourself. Just stick to your budget.

i wouldn't do it on that wage.

maybe if you lived with say, 3 others, you could do it.

you could do it on your own if you're perfectly happy doing no socialising and having no disposable income.

its the council tax that fucks you.

I live on £18k and a half. I'm a jammy bastard, though, and I found a really stupidly cheap house with all bills included.

: )

Just brought a place by myself. Must say i'm finding it a struggle this month after some big weekends. The key is trying to keep things down as low as possible.

Would be much easier if I my girlfriend moved in.
