Delta have a tradition of doing some very cheap deals if you buy at the right time.

Try www.statravel.co.uk - they are normally pretty good for giving you a fairly accurate figure if not the best one..

BA and Virgin are both stuggling to fill there seats and therefore offering great transatlantic deals. I got a return to new york for £240 a while back and it's £100 more to LA

that's a great price.
you couldn't build yourself a vehicle, fill it with fuel, OK the bureaucracy and get there yourself for less than that. and it save's all that hassle.
