I've been to other parts of Turkey loads of times, but soon will be my first visit to Istanbul. Any recommendations for off the beaten track places to eat, go out etc.?

loads of cool stuff in taksim, just walk up side streets. i cant remember names of places, quite a few of my mates live there. i'll ask em and let you know
