p.s.

fish - "does he?!"
slash - "does he?!"
butters - "does he?!"

they all work

Poot = fart
Richards = shitting (Richard the Third). OK, that's a stretch. And more of a gerund (even though no-one uses it).

Also:

"Names who's surname contain a verb in it's infinitive form (I think it's called the infinitive but I'm no linguist)" = LOLz

The infinitive form is "to x", as in "to fish", "to slash", "to butter" where the verb hasn't been conjugated. What you're talking about is the present tense. To quote Half Man Half Biscuit's seminal "Joy Division Oven Gloves" lyric "Nero fiddles while Gordon Burns... With my Joy Division Oven Gloves Oven Gloves Oven Gloves...".

And

"basically names that you can reply "Does he/she?" after hearing them. (Eg "LeAnn Rimes". "Does She?!")

2) Spelling not important, it's all about how it sounds (Courtney Cox is a great one)"

The whole point of having Samantha Fox on Page 3 in the 80s was that not only did she have big knockers but you could say "Samantha Fox" and be asked "DOES SHE?!!".

Buttmonkey, yes you're right, perhaps present tense not infinitive.

Fish/slash would work if they were a) fishes/slashes and b) had an object. Like it would need to be David Butters or something or Michael Fishes. " David Butters", "does he?!" -this works. "Butters", "Does he?!" "Does who?" -this doesn't.

OK, I'll give you Poots and Fox

Here's a few more...

Jeremy Bates
Malandra Burrows
Samantha Barks (Actress)
Kris Blanks (Golfer)
Guy Fawkes
Gracie Fields
Barbara Knox
Britney Spears
Brooke Shields
Ann Summers
Harris Wittels (the late writer of Parks & Rec)

Harris Wittels
Freddie Sears

I have a few in non-famous ones that I'll throw in for laughs. I know a German guy called 'Benny Bums'. My brother told me he was waiting for the franking machine at work one day and the woman using it before him was called 'Trudy Franks'!

This theme came up as a question on this weeks Only Connect, a bit coincimental or what!

...apparently they are all people whose surnames are 'third-person singular present indicatives', so that's cleared that up

I knew that. But I didn't want to show off. Because I never do that.
