I'm staggered by the press attention that Loyle Carner record is getting.

It's bang average. I've read reviews saying that his poetry will floor you. The Kate Tempest record says more in half a verse than the first 6 tracks on that record. Average flow and bland, predictable production too.

Completely agree. Skinny man was producing better stuff in the late 90's and never got a mention.

There's one of his tracks where he coughs at the beginning that annoys me no fucking end as well. 6music love him for some reason.

Honestly have no idea how much press he's getting. If you're taking this into account when listening to him maybe it's having an affect. A few of his songs come up on my Discover Weekly playlist and they are good, album is a good listen too.

I like that living abroad has left me with no clue about what people are saying about bands, this site aside. Basically just listen to what sounds good to me, no other factors can really affect it!

I'm not normally a fan, but I enjoyed the Ryan Adams album. The Lupe Fiasco album sounded pretty solid too, although nothing like Tetsuo + Youth which is a masterpiece

got the super special ryan adams box set for prisoner on pre-order so I'm waiting for that to come out before I listen to the album.

One which won't be particularly well know in these parts is lil lost lou. She's supported pete in the past and used to be my old landlady. She's got her album coming out in April, which I'm well excited about. Its been about 10 years in the making so its good to see she's got her shit together and will have it released this year.

New (guitar free) Mountain Goats album, Goths, out in May - and I'm not sure there'll be a better song title than this all year:

Not heard a huge amount of new records so far this year, but like Ty Segall, King Gizzard, Dirty Projectors, Meursault, Wild Birds of Britain & Jessca Hoop.

I sincerely hope the rest of the new Shins album is a lot better than the two songs released so far.

Apparently Gorillaz have finished their album and are in live rehearsals.

Strand of Oaks album is up and down but there are two tracks that sound very The Verve circa Northern Soul, which is a good thing - swirling psychedelia

Really hoping for a new Caitlin Rose record this year. Her first two are wonderful, particularly the first one.

4 songs released so far actually. I'm also disappointed but it's hard to judge without the context of the whole album

No idea who the guy is but listened to Cosmo Pyke's EP a few times today and really liking it. Sucker for a bit of a ska thrown in on the likes of Chronic Sunshine.

Worth a listen.
