Cheers, will grab his tonight. I hope it's a LOT better than the singles and the last album.

I met someone in 1997 who needed to set up cubase on his mac.

The "album" he started then still isn't finished though it has moved from computer to computer. It's terrible. Anyway he claims it's due for release sometime this year.

So looking forward to that.

I have a demo mix of it and have this challenge where people have to listen to it. Nobody can take over a minute of it. Really, it's so awful it's not even good at being awful.

The Sleaford Mods is great - at first it just sounds more of the same, songs all sound a bit similar to each other but as you listen more it opens up and things reveal themselves - lines, beats, quirky noises - love it

"The Shins - Heartworms

https://www.sendspace.com/file/6n96y9"

3 listens through and it's leaving me cold and a bit sad. I was hoping that Port of Morrow was an anomaly and that he had another great Shins album in him. But I guess, despite what Mercer may think this isn't really the Shins anyway.

Too much synth, too many naff and awkward self-conscious lyrics, what feels to me like forced melodies and really too much going on full stop. However; if this was a different band's first album it wouldn't feel too bad, but as a Shins album with me wanting another Inverted/Chutes/Wincing it's a solid 2/10.

I'll give it another couple of spins purely cos I'm desperate to like it, but i'm not holding my breath.

Fair to say we're waiting on the first genuinely great record of 2017?

Agreed. Best so far for me is Ty Segall and I have very high hopes for Laura Marling based on the lead single and what i've read.

There's been hardly anything I've felt any connection to so far.

Rhiannon Giddens' album is very good though - I'd recommend that.

Also, I'm obsessed with Lana Del Rey's song Love

Two listens through of Laura Marling and I think I'm going to love it.

Anyone know if she's got a new producer? It's got a lovely sound. In some places the feel of it reminds me a bit of Nick Drake's Bryter Later.

Particularly enjoying the closing track 'Nothing, Not Nearly'.
