The new Damaged Bug is good. I'm also really enjoying records by Thundercat and Priests

There's been good/decent albums so far but not one that's made me think 'I'll still be playing this in a few years'

I've liked the albums of Loyle Carner, Cosmo Pyke (EP), Bishop Nehru, Foxygen and Menace Beach so far.

The XX album is fucking shite.

Right into the new Los Campesinos! one. Easily the best thing they've ever done. Lovely little album.

Alt-J is the one I'm looking forward to, and then the Manics are supposedly working on new stuff.

The Laura Marling is the first great album I've heard this year. Some of it is Joni Mitchell level good.

I've softened a little on The Shins album. It's certainly better than the last record.

22.02.85 by Bastien Keb is the best thing I've heard this year.

I'm now listening to older Laura Marling albums because I'm so blown away by her new one. I'm on A Creature I Don't Know at the moment.

So, she's always been a genius? I wasn't really paying attention before.

I always had the idea she was pretty boring, not that I've listened extensively. New Romantic is a fucking great song though, her new album is decent enough.

I don't think she's made a bad record. Her first, considering she wrote it when she was 16 and recorded it at 17, is remarkable.

The other real highlight is probably Once I was An Eagle.

Great live too.

FW and SHP, I really think you'd both like the Bastien Keb record.

Soul/Jazz/Fusion/Soundtrack type affair.

Sounds good, I'm downloading it now

I will in turn recommend you Terrace Martin's 'Velvet Portraits' from last year.

https://youtu.be/3rZJVwKgv_4

It's soulful, jazzy, laidback (mainly). Very nice album. He's worked with Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat, Kamasi Washington, that lot.

New Sleaford Mods is the best one I've heard by a long way. Going to check out Laura Marling over the weekend though. I used to obsess about her around the time of the first album but sort of lost interest from the 2nd one onwards.

They are awful. Especially the new album.

Father John Misty also disappoints.
