The forums should be renamed. Some suggestions:

by

I notice that we have been getting very little traffic here lately. Many newbies used to find their way here by typing "www.qbasic.com" and then clicking on the forum link. This is no longer obvious from your new page with mostly black background and small print for the "New forum" and "Old forum."

The "New forum" should probably be relabelled "Member Forum" and the "Old forum" should be renamed as either "Regular Forum" or "Classic Forum." The font should be large enough to be noticed.

The designations you have set up associated with the number of posts is really a put-off. Why rank someone as a "Newbie" just because they haven't placed enough posts on your new forum? That is not what the word means at all and would be confusing to real newbies coming to view the forum. A real newbie may end up making more posts (in the form of questions rather than answers) than a true expert. The ranking should come from the level of advice which is offered in the form of tips and techniques, and responses to questions. Look over the "old" forum and subforums to see which members have contributed worthwhile information. You should eliminate the labels altogether and simply list the number of posts made by each member.

It looks like you have put a lot of work and thought into the design of the website. Hopefully, it will offer the kind of benefits QBasic programmers deserve.

PS: I registered several days ago (with the username Solitaire) but still haven't received an email link and am unable to log on. If you did send one, it's possible it was filtered into my spam mail and got deleted, so please send it again and respond to this post with the name and title of the email so I can watch for it.
