mac you are really really really really wrong this time

if you install quicktime it may take over your png associations, but png is not propriatary (GIF is.) it is an open format supported by every browser there is. including arachne for DOS.
it most certainly does NOT require quicktime. it is not taboo - the standard web formats are : gif jpg png... and by contrast BMP is LESS likely to load in a website. it does not require any plugins. blame your registry. i don't have quicktime and i see them fine. in fact, if new puts that in an img src tag you wont know it from a gif file. only because youre loading it as one file does it load as a plugin.

furthermore if it required quicktime he would have to EMBED or APPLET it. it wouldnt work in an IMG tag. want more proof? go to my programs you are ashamed of subforum. there is a png graphic in the top lefthand. it will load.
