Recently, the SPRUCEDALE HOTEL in cooperation with the STICKS&BONES Charity Support Riding Club, held a MotorcyclePokerRun fundraising event for their community. All proceeds went towards the MCMURRICHMONTEITHVOLUNTEERFIREFIGHTERSASSOCIATION, who have been raising funds towards a Rescue ATV since early Spring 2007.

At the beginning of the event, the firefighters had already raised almost $6,000, supplemented by the astounding funds raised by the Hotel and RidingClub during this event.

Mike & Patti, owners of the hotel, along with all of their staff and many of Mike's riding brothers, had spent countless hours preparing for and soliciting sponsors for the event.

Despite the rain all day, the riders risked their safety over a 200km stretch on only two wheels in heavy downpours, making the event a huge success.

God bless our volunteer firefighters, the staff of the Sprucedale Hotel, and the members of the community who came out to support them.

Where were our councilors and Reeve?

Why did it appear (for the most part) the only supporters present were regular patrons of the Hotel? (despite the radio, newspaper, and highly visible signage promotions)

You only see these people at functions that can further themselves. Quite incredible...
