Has anyone else noticed the amount of dog dirt that suddenly seems to be on every street? Is there anything we can do about reminding owners of their responsibility? The signs put up by the Town in Bloom were very useful but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have worked. Their seems to be a real problem on Westfields, particularly as this is the route to the school and playgroup and it is worrying that as so many young kids use this route that at some point one of them will get it on their hands and if a dog is not wormed properly it can blind. How can people not clean up after their dogs? I'm sure the same people would be up in arms if I merrily left my kids dirty nappies in the middle of the street but it boils down to the same thing - it is disgusting and needs to be cleaned up. You can buy 300 nappy bags for £1 of the market and if you've got an aversion to picking it up get a pooper scooper! Its the responsibility of dog owners to look after their dogs and clean up after them - it is starting to make Kirkby look a complete disgrace.
Can't believe that this is not getting any better! More dog mess all the way up the path into school this morning. Which means some dog owners are merrily letting their dogs wander off without any control and messing where they like. There are serious implications of health issues involving the school with this and to cap it all we came home to find someone had let their dog mess all over the footpath in front of our house!!! I am a dog lover at heart but am beginning to think that there are so many unresponsible dog owners out there that they are giving their pets a bad name. Any dog owner has a responsibility to be able to control their dog, know where it is at all times and clean up after it.
Please do something about cleaning up after your dogs!
There is another angle to this. Since many people allow their dogs to mess the pavements, it indicates that they must give them very uninteresting walks.
